Why did the original roof need to come off?

The garage had an old sheet metal roof, while the section being converted into the annexe had an uninsulated concrete roof. Neither was suitable for the planned conversion or current building regulations.

Removing the existing roofs allows us to install a properly insulated structure suited to the building’s new use.

Preserving the original appearance is a major part of the Metheringham Control Tower conversion.

The new roof has been designed with falls in four directions, directing water towards the existing perimeter trough while staying as close as possible to the original structure.

The client wants to retain the building’s history rather than modernise its appearance, so every detail is being considered with its 1940s design in mind.

External works are taking shape on Plot One at The Meadows in Leasingham.

At the front, preparations are beginning for the entrance pillars, gates, driveway and block paved areas.

Around the back, the team has started laying Indian sandstone slabs outside the kitchen and living area, creating a patio accessed through the new doors.

A closer look at the structural steelwork inside our Old School conversion.

The goalpost frames will support the new roof and create the two garage door openings. The central frame will eventually be enclosed in brickwork to separate the two bays.

There is one more goalpost frame and an additional steel section to install before the new roof trusses can be fitted.

Another progress update from Deepdale Drive in Leasingham. 🏗️

The roof, tiles and guttering are complete on the top plot, and the scaffolding is now down, with the windows next to be installed.

The gable ends have also been completed on the second plot, allowing the team to move onto the garages.

Good progress across the first two properties on this six bungalow development.

We’re back at the former Metheringham Airfield Control Tower, where this historic building is being converted into a four bedroom home.

The cantilever steelwork for the external staircase is now installed, along with the Posi Joists and firrings for the new roof structure.

The team is currently insulating the deck, ready for the roof coverings to be installed during the next stage.

Welcome to The Meadows in Leasingham, one of our latest development sites.

The project consists of eight executive homes, with work taking place at different stages across the development.

We’ll be sharing a closer look at the individual plots and the work that goes into bringing each property through to completion.

Progress inside the Old School project in South Kyme. 🏗️

We’re converting the existing outbuilding into a self contained annexe and double garage.

The annexe will include a kitchen and living area, patio doors opening onto the garden, a bedroom and an en suite. The adjoining space will become a two bay garage with a separate storage workshop.

Most of the structural steelwork and goalpost frames are now installed, with one final steel section required before the roof trusses can go on.

The biggest challenge on site at the moment is the changing weather.

Planning brickwork becomes difficult when the forecast can change during the morning. If heavy rain arrives at 10 or 11 o’clock, the team may not have enough dry time to complete a worthwhile section of work.

We’re monitoring the conditions, adjusting the schedule and doing everything possible to maintain momentum. The priority now is to keep the project moving and get the buildings watertight before winter.
