One of the most common reasons new customers contact us urgently is because an existing supplier is unable to meet lead times or technical requirements.

We also regularly support customers working to tight prototype deadlines ahead of product launches or trade shows, where timing is critical.

Recently, we reduced a standard 20 working day lead time down to just 4 days using our express production capability to support a customer in a genuinely urgent situation.

While express production is not something we can offer as standard and always depends on current production capacity and planning, where possible we will always try to support customers facing time-sensitive challenges.
Problem solving has always been a key part of what we do at Advanced Materials.

When silicone components don’t perform as expected, the cause isn’t always the design or material - processing can also play a role.

One factor that is often overlooked is post-curing.

Without post-curing, small amounts of residual by-products can remain in the material, which may affect:

• Compression set
• Appearance
• Extractables and odour
• Regulatory Compliance

Post-curing helps drive off these residuals, and in many cases is essential for meeting requirements such as FDA or drinking water standards.

However, not all applications require post-curing, and applying it unnecessarily can add cost and lead time.

At Advanced Materials, we work with customers to determine when post-curing is needed, so get in touch with us with the details of your enquiry, our team is always happy to discuss your requirements.

Did you know?

Several of our silicone grades are FDA compliant, making them suitable for applications where material safety and regulatory standards are essential.

Our FDA-compliant grades include:

- General Purpose Range:
Versatile materials used across a vast range of standard industrial applications.

- High Strength Grades:
Engineered for durability and tear resistance in demanding environments.

- Platinum Cured Silicone:
A high-purity option often preferred for medical and pharmaceutical use due to its low extractables and addition cure system These materials are commonly used in industries where product safety, hygiene, and reliability are critical - including food processing, medical devices, and specialist industrial applications.

At Advanced Materials, we work closely with customers to help select the most suitable silicone grade for their specific application, ensuring both performance and compliance requirements are met.

If you’re developing a product that requires FDA-compliant materials, our team is always happy to discuss your requirements.

Choosing the right material isn’t just about performance - it’s about making sure it performs reliably in the environment it’s used in.

Different materials perform reliably across very different temperature ranges. Selecting the wrong one can lead to premature failure, loss of sealing performance or reduced product lifespan.

This guide compares the typical service temperature ranges of common elastomeric materials to help engineers and designers select the most suitable option for their application.

Silicone rubber stands out for its ability to perform across a particularly wide temperature range, making it suitable for demanding environments where many other elastomers reach their limits.

Short lead times start with the right manufacturing set-up.

At Advanced Materials, our in-house extrusion tooling and manufacturing process allows us to move quickly from design to production, helping customers keep projects on schedule while maintaining quality and precision.

By managing tooling internally, we can provide highly competitive lead times and costs while maintaining full control over the manufacturing process.

Typical timings include:

⚙️ Rapid tooling turnaround with our in-house tool makers
📐 New extrusion designs and samples produced in around 10 working days (depending on complexity)

WRAS approval is a key requirement when specifying materials for potable water systems.

It confirms that a product or material has been independently tested to ensure it will not contaminate or affect drinking water quality.

In our short guide, we explain what WRAS approval means, why it matters and how it applies to silicone rubber components used in water systems.
