📅 9 Nov – Inflatable Seals
📅 16 Nov – Profile Frames
📅 23 Nov – SAB’d extrusions, FGS and joined rings
📅 30 Nov – Simple extrusions requiring new die tooling

If these parts feed into pre-2027 production or customer commitments, we’d urge you to check your requirements now to give yourself plenty of time to confirm specifications and tooling.

Plan early and avoid an unexpected year-end gap in supply.

Two pieces of silicone rubber can look the same yet still perform very differently.

We’ve updated the Silicone Rubber Technical Details section of our website to make those comparisons easier, bringing together information including:

• Operating temperature ranges
• Shore A hardness
• Food-contact options
• High-temperature materials
• Fluorosilicone
• Flame-retardant grades
• Mechanical properties and typical applications

The important point is that no single property should normally be considered in isolation.

A material that handles the required temperature, for example, still needs to provide the right compression, flexibility and resistance for the actual working environment.

This month will see production begin at our new Littlehampton manufacturing unit.

The additional facility gives our team more flexibility when planning longer production runs, repeat orders and bespoke silicone extrusion work.

It’s an expansion of our UK manufacturing capacity, not a relocation.

More space. More production flexibility. The same focus on technical control and consistent manufacture.

A big milestone for the team and an important part of supporting future customer demand.

25 years in silicone rubber extrusion! 🎉

This September marks a brilliant milestone for our Technical Director, Villeater, who has now spent 25 years working in the silicone rubber extrusion industry.

Villeater started out in technical sales back in 2001, joined Advanced Materials in 2011 and has been our Technical Director since 2015.

A lot has changed since then, from new technology and manufacturing processes to the growing importance of quality, traceability and increasingly specialist applications.

But some parts of the job are exactly the same.

As Villeater says:

"Listening to customers, understanding their application and finding the right technical solution will always be more valuable than simply supplying a product."

After 25 years, it's safe to say she's seen a fair few unusual requests, tricky applications and silicone profiles along the way!

A huge congratulations to Villeater on 25 years in the industry. Here's to plenty more challenges to solve!

Meet the Team | Nathaniel Mattocks

Meet Nathaniel, who started his apprenticeship at Advanced Materials in December 2025.

As part of the Quality team, Nathaniel helps ensure every product meets the high standards our customers expect, supporting the team to identify potential issues before they ever reach production.

He was drawn to Advanced Materials because he wanted an apprenticeship that offered a genuine challenge while making a real difference to customers every day.

One of Nathaniel's favourite moments was seeing a customer genuinely excited after improvements to a silicone seal made their manufacturing process easier. It's a reminder that even a small component can have a big impact.

Outside of work? He's firmly on Team Cats, runs on coffee (when there's no Monster left!) and reckons James would be the best colleague to have on a desert island thanks to his "niche raft-building knowledge".
