Acoustic ceiling specification, a quick breakdown.

Ecophon is our go-to for education and healthcare environments. It holds its performance over time and works well against Part E requirements. Rockfon suits open-plan commercial spaces where sound diffusion is the priority. Zentia is strong where re-access above the ceiling is a regular occurrence.

The spec should drive the product choice, not the other way round. If you're mid-tender and want a second opinion on the acoustic system, give us a call.

The client had a workshop that was getting too noisy to run an office alongside it. Moving to new premises wasn't on the cards.

So we came in and created the space they needed. Metal stud partition spanning the width of the workshop, glazed windows to keep the light, a doorway in the right place, dry lining on both faces, and tape and jointing throughout. Acoustic performance was part of the spec from the start.

It's a straightforward package when you've done it as many times as we have. Quick to mobilise, clean to execute.

If you need to create usable space within an existing building, we're worth talking to.

At TPLS, a clean handover means more than ticking a box.

Every job we complete comes with a closed snagging record, RAMS on file, manufacturer data sheets, and a direct line to one of the directors.

We've been working alongside London main contractors for 20 years. The ones who work with us regularly know what to expect, and that consistency is what keeps them coming back.

If you have a ceiling or dry lining package coming up, give us a call.

That is July done.

Four weeks of content on the technical side of ceiling and partition installation, what compliance actually requires, what good specifications look like, how materials and lead times affect programmes, and what standards we hold ourselves to at handover.

All of it from twenty years of London commercial work.

August is going to cover project management and programme control, the logistics side of running ceiling packages on complex London sites.

If anything from July raised questions about your next project, we are easy to reach.

RAMS. The difference between generic and job-specific.

Every subcontractor on a commercial site submits Risk Assessments and Method Statements. The requirement is clear. What is less clear is whether what gets submitted actually describes the job at hand.

A generic template with the site name filled in tells the principal contractor that the box has been ticked. A site-specific method statement tells the site team what the sequence of work is, what the specific hazards are on this site, what the constraints are, and what to do if something goes wrong in this building.

The first protects nobody. The second protects everyone.

We produce job-specific RAMS. They cover the actual site, the actual constraints, and the actual sequence. They pass CDM reviews because they describe real work.

The main contractor's snagging list is always longer than ours.

It is longer because the main contractor is looking at the floor from the client's perspective, not the subcontractor's. They see things the installation team walked past. They find things the inspection missed.

The way to close that gap is to walk the floor before the main contractor does and find those things first. Paint holidays. Tile alignment. Unfinished edges. Incorrectly applied fire stops.

None of it is difficult to find if you are looking for it. And finding it before the main contractor does matters commercially, retention is not released until the snagging list is closed.

We walk every installation before handover. The main contractor's list is shorter as a result.

Emergency ceiling contractor. What actually happens in week one.

When a package stalls and a main contractor needs to bring in a new ceiling subcontractor mid-programme, the natural instinct is to want installation to restart immediately.

Week one is usually not installation. Week one is understanding exactly what exists on site, what is missing, and what the correct path forward looks like. That includes reviewing drawings against what has been built, checking materials, and identifying any compliance gaps before they become handover problems.

We have taken over stalled ceiling packages across London at various stages of completion. The assessment is always the starting point. Installation follows when we know the ground is right.

Got a stalled ceiling package in London? Call us before you expect someone on site tomorrow.

What clean project handover actually looks like on a ceiling and partition package.

Handover is not just handing over the keys. It is handing over the documentation that the building's manager will need to run and maintain the building.

For a ceiling and partition package, that means as-built drawings, system data sheets, fire stopping certification for every pe*******on in a fire-rated assembly, acoustic test results, O&M manuals, warranties, and a closed snagging list.

Most of this is not difficult to produce if the information is collected during the project. It is very difficult to reconstruct after the project ends if it was not.

We compile handover documentation throughout the project, not on the last day before handover. The building manager gets what they need. The main contractor gets a clean sign-off.

Is the handover documentation for your next project being planned from day one?
