🇬🇧 UK Budget 2026: What does it mean for Crypto, DeFi, Tokenisation, Stablecoins and the Treasury?

The BBA examines five developments:

🔹 DeFi: Capital Gains Tax deferral for certain qualifying loans and liquidity pools.

🔹 Stablecoins: Proposed CGT exemption for eligible stablecoins, with certain returns taxed as savings income.

🔹 Corporate treasury: Changes to stablecoin accounting-based taxation and withholding-tax rules.

🔹 Tokenisation: Progress towards DIGIT, the UK’s digital gilt pilot, expected by the end of Q1 2027.

🔹 HMRC: Wider information-gathering powers covering cryptoasset service providers.
