Working alongside Riverside Roofing on this project, we carefully removed the existing solar panels to allow for a complete new re-roof.

Once the new roof was finished, we reinstalled the full solar system using a brand new mounting kit with a lot more care and attention than the previous install. ☀️🏠

Out today refitting 2 solar panels that had been removed while some lead work was carried out.

With the nice weather on our side, we also took the opportunity to give everything a good clean and spruce up giving the system a fresh start ready for the sunny days ahead this summer. ☀️🔧

Another day removing solar panels for a re-roof, and once again we’re reminded how important a proper installation really is. ☀️🔧

When we lifted the system we found:
• Poor cable management
• Cables simply tucked into the roof tiles
• Rails that were too short with botched rail joiners
• A roof that was earthed but no proper bonding across the system
• A very strange string layout
• A messy and poorly finished DC entry point into the house with spare lead

This is exactly why quality installation matters. Solar should last 20+ years, but poor workmanship can shorten its lifespan and create safety issues.

The good news?
Once the new roof is complete, we’ll be back to reinstall the system properly correcting the mounting kit, cable management, earthing, and string layout to give this system the second chance it deserves.

Doing it right the first time matters… but if it wasn’t, we’ll make it right. ☀️

We’ve added 5 extra panels to the existing solar array and installed an additional battery✅

The customer’s 5kW inverter wasn’t being fully utilised before, so the extra panels now allow the system to generate more power and make better use of the inverter capacity.

This means more free solar energy during the day and more available power to charge and discharge the two batteries☘️🌿
