Two steel mobile gantries, manufactured, supplied and installed by the Hoist UK team.

Designed to provide a practical and flexible lifting solution, each gantry is fitted with a 230V single-phase VERLINDE Eurochain VX electric chain hoist with push trolley.

System specification:

• 2 × steel mobile gantries

• 250 kg rated capacity

• 3 m span (between wheel centres)

• 4.5 m height under beam

• 2 × swivel braked and 2 × fixed castors per gantry

• VERLINDE Eurochain VX 230V single-phase electric chain hoist with push trolley

• Pendant controlled hoists

• 16A 2P+E blue 230V plug fitted to each gantry for ease of operation

We recently replaced this VERLINDE hoist, originally installed in 2008, with a new unit specifically configured to better suit its operating environment.

Despite the original hoist being almost 20 years old, replacement parts are still available – demonstrating the long-term support available across the VERLINDE product range.

However, for this application, upgrading allowed us to specify features better suited to the conditions, including a stainless steel load chain, IP66 protection and protective rain covers.

Whether it’s repairing and maintaining an existing hoist or recommending a replacement better suited to the application, our team can help determine the most appropriate solution.

Do you know what the directional arrows on your crane mean?

DIN directional markings provide operators with a clear and standardised way of identifying crane and hoist travel directions.

Rather than relying on terms such as left, right, forward or reverse – which can change depending on where the operator is standing – each direction is identified using a colour and symbol displayed on both the crane and its controls.

This becomes particularly useful when operating a crane via radio control, where the operator has the freedom to move around the working area and view the load from different positions.

By matching the symbol on the radio transmitter with the corresponding marking on the crane, the operator can quickly identify the intended direction of travel, regardless of their position.

A simple addition that can help make crane operation clearer, safer and more intuitive.

4 x VERLINDE Eurochain VX EX electric chain hoists ready for dispatch, configured for use in an ATEX Zone 21 hazardous area.

To further enhance suitability for the operating environment, each unit has been fitted with in-house fabricated stainless steel debris catchers/drip trays, stainless steel load chain and hook block, and NSF H1 biodegradable lubricants throughout the hoisting and travel mechanisms.

ATEX Zone 21 classifications apply to areas where explosive dust atmospheres are likely to occur occasionally during normal operation, requiring equipment specifically designed and certified for safe use.

System specification:

• 4 × VERLINDE Eurochain VX EX electric chain hoists

• 1,250 kg rated capacity

• 5 m height of lift

• Motorised travelling trolley

• ATEX Zone 21 classification

• Stainless steel load chain and hook block
