We're back on site in North Shields for a walkthrough of our latest project, showing you the progress we've made so far.

From construction and structural alterations through to the finer details beginning to take shape, our team is working to transform this space into something special for the local tabletop gaming community.

It's a project with plenty of character, and we're looking forward to showing you how it all comes together.

Still a way to go, but the transformation is well underway! 👀

Back at King Eddie’s Coffee ☕️

We caught up with Emma to hear about her experience working with Barnes Thompson and what it was like taking the space from an old ticket office to a fully functioning café.

For Emma, one of the biggest things was how quickly and efficiently the fit-out came together.

Having the different trades working together under one roof allows us to keep projects moving, solve problems quickly and make the whole process as straightforward as possible for our clients.

Now the doors are open, it’s great to come back and see the space doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Meet Ben 👋

ONE UP was Ben’s first full rip-out and refit project with Barnes Thompson, giving him the chance to be involved from strip-out right through to the finished venue.

We caught up with him to hear about his experience working at Barnes Thompson, what he’s learned and how he’s found being part of the team.

But Ben’s also a massive petrolhead… so naturally his favourite experience so far had absolutely nothing to do with construction. 😂

That honour goes to a rapid response run in the special edition Yamaha YXZ1000R. 🏁

Meet the people behind Barnes Thompson.

Different trades. One team. One standard.

From first fix to final finish, our lads work together to take commercial spaces from an idea on a drawing to a finished business ready to open its doors.

Introducing ONE UP Café & Bistro.

One of Barnes Thompson’s latest completed hospitality projects, located on Dean Street in the heart of Newcastle.

ONE UP gave us the opportunity to create something with real character — combining considered design, bespoke details and quality craftsmanship to transform the space into a completely new hospitality destination.

From the initial concept through to the finished fit-out, our in-house team worked together across the project to bring the client’s vision to life.

Over the next few videos, we’ll be taking you further inside ONE UP, showing you more of the finished project and hearing directly from the people behind it.

What’s it really like working with Barnes Thompson? 👀

We’re back at ONE UP Café & Bistro on Dean Street, Newcastle — but this time, you don’t have to take our word for it.

Owner Kieran talks about his experience working with Barnes Thompson and the journey of taking his vision for ONE UP and turning it into the finished venue you see today.

Great fit-outs aren’t just about the finished result. They’re about making the journey there organised, efficient and enjoyable for the client too.

We’re proud to have played our part in bringing Kieran’s vision for ONE UP to life.

Every successful venue starts with someone willing to take a chance on an idea.

Meet Kieran, the owner of ONE UP

Seeing our clients open their doors and welcome their first customers is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do. It's about more than completing a fit-out, it's about creating spaces where businesses can grow and succeed.

Thank you, Kieran, Dino & Bledi for trusting us with your vision. We can't wait to see ONE UP become part of Newcastle's hospitality scene.

From ticket sales office to thriving café.

When King Eddie's approached Barnes Thompson, the goal was clear: transform an outdated ticket office into a modern, welcoming café and get the doors open as quickly as possible.

By managing every stage of the project through our in-house team from design and planning to joinery, electrical, plumbing, decoration and final finishes we were able to deliver a complete transformation on a fast-track program while maintaining the quality our clients expect.

Seeing the space now, full of customers enjoying great coffee, makes every challenge along the way worthwhile.

A huge thank you to the King Eddie's team for trusting Barnes Thompson with their vision.
