We're proud to celebrate the successful first month of our new Whitehead Centre of Excellence.

Our 2026 apprentices are the first to begin their Whitehead journey at the Academy, where they can develop practical skills, build confidence, and gain valuable hands-on experience alongside their on-site training.

This investment reflects our long-standing commitment to apprenticeships and developing the next generation of talent within the building services industry.

Last Thursday, a group of our very own Whitehead Building Services team swapped their beds for sleeping bags and spent the night outdoors at Cardiff City Stadium for V3 (U.K.) Limited’s Sleep On It 2026, raising vital funds and awareness in support of Llamau.

It was a fantastic event with an incredible turnout, bringing the community together for such an important cause.

Llamau works across Wales to support young people, women and children who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. The charity provides safe accommodation, support and training, helping people build confidence and create a brighter, more secure future.
Together, the event raised an amazing £20,000+ for Llamau. A huge well done to everyone who took part, donated and supported the event. You should all be incredibly proud of what was achieved.

We’re already looking forward to next year!

Tonight some of our very own Whitehead colleagues will be braving the elements and swapping their warm, comfortable beds for cardboard boxes and a night sleeping outdoors at Cardiff City Stadium for the V3 (U.K) Limited Sleep On It 2026 in support of Llamau.

United in fighting homelessness and changing the life outcomes of thousands of people in Wales, our team will be sharing the night with like minded businesses.

This is Llamau’s 40th year and in that time they have provided support to over 165,000 vulnerable young people and women facing homelessness, helping them build brighter and more secure futures.

Whitehead has a proud history of supporting local sports teams as well as the extra curricular activities of our employees, which is why we’re delighted to say a huge well done to our Junior Project Manager, Erin Minnett, who recently took part in the Dance World Cup 2026 in Dublin, representing Wales.

We were delighted to support Erin on her journey, with the Whitehead logo displayed on her uniform throughout the competition.

After returning from Dublin, Erin said:

“I’m incredibly proud and honoured to have been part of the Dance World Cup 2026 in Dublin, representing Wales.

It was an unforgettable experience and I’m so grateful for all the support and sponsorship that made this journey possible. A huge thank you to everyone who believed in me, my sponsors, and my dance teacher Aimee at Horizons Dance Studio for helping me achieve this amazing opportunity.

Performing on such a prestigious stage was a dream come true, and singing on stage for the first time made the experience even more special. We were thrilled to achieve our best result, placing 8th in the world! A moment I’ll always be proud of!

We’re proud to be supporting Eden Gate with the development of their new Eden Gate Skills Training Centre (EGSTC) in Newport.

Eden Gate is an award-winning Christian charity supporting adults who are homeless, living in temporary accommodation or at risk of homelessness, helping people build confidence, skills and independence.

As part of the new Skills Training Centre, our team has supported with electrical works, including additional power supplies, a three-phase mixer supply and access control power, alongside an EICR and ventilation system survey and balancing.

We’re delighted to play our part in helping Eden Gate create a facility that will provide valuable training and opportunities for people across Newport and beyond.

We’re proud to recognise Tyler Herbert, our BIM Technician on Bridgend College, who has been nominated for this month’s SHEQ Employee of the Month award.

Tyler has gone above and beyond his role while developing the theatre’s complex Stage 5 design. Working in a new specialist area, he has embraced the challenge of detailed coordination, particularly the containment routes serving the theatre’s AV systems.

His commitment extends beyond modelling. Through site visits, Tyler has developed his understanding of installation practices and incorporated that knowledge into his drawings, helping translate complex designs into practical site solutions.

Working closely with Paul Clapham, Tyler has also taken his drawings onto site to mark out builders’ work openings ready for drilling—building his skills and taking greater ownership of his work.

A well-deserved nomination recognising Tyler’s initiative, willingness to learn and contribution to the Whitehead Building Services team. Well done, Tyler! 👏

On Sunday 20th September, a group of 300 dedicated cyclists, including our Managing Director Rhys Morton, took on the Whitehead Tour de Gwent, in aid of St David's Hospice Care’s.

Now in its 11th year, the event is always a huge success, with new riders joining each year to take on the challenging routes and to raise vital funds for an incredible cause.

It’s amazing to see the community come together for such an important cause, before enjoying a well-deserved rest and refresh at the finish line at Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar in Rogerstone, Newport

St David’s Hospice Care is a local charity providing specialist end-of-life and palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses, while also supporting their families and loved ones across the local community.

As headline sponsors, we’re proud to support such an important event and would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part, volunteered, donated and helped make this year’s Tour de Gwent another fantastic day.

This Sunday marks the 11th year of the Whitehead & St David's Hospice Care Tour de Gwent and we couldn’t be more excited!

Each year, people from across the region come together to take on one of four different cycling routes, all while raising money for a fantastic cause. It’s a brilliant day filled with community, challenge and plenty of fun.

All four rides will start and finish at Tiny Rebel Brewery Bar, where riders can treat themselves to some well-earned hot food and a drink after completing their challenge.

Online registration is now closed, but if this sounds like a challenge you’d like to take on, you can still register on the day!

We wish everyone taking part the very best of luck. We hope you have an incredible day, enjoy every mile and create some fantastic memories along the way!

We would like to extend a very warm welcome to our 2026 apprentices and congratulate them on successfully completing their first week with us!

This year, we have welcomed 10 new apprentices across both our electrical and mechanical fields and 2 trainees within our BIM and estimating departments and we are excited to see them learn, develop and build their skills throughout their time with Whitehead Building Services.

It is an honour to continue providing opportunities to inspire young minds, develop future talent and show the next generation the many rewarding career opportunities available within the construction industry.

We would also like to say a big thank you to BSS, CMC, Rexel and Whitecroft Lighting for sponsoring our new training centre and supporting the development of the next generation of talent. You may have already spotted their name on our apprentices’ uniforms!

We’ll be revealing more details about our new training centre soon, so keep an eye on our social media channels for updates!

We look forward to supporting them throughout their apprenticeships and watching them grow.
