Killowen Contracts is delighted to announce the successful completion of the transformation of Leixlip Amenities Sports Centre for Leixlip Amenities Group, designed by CD Architects.

The project involved the demolition of the existing single-storey changing rooms and entrance, followed by the construction of a new two-storey 2,082sqm extension, significantly upgrading the facility for the local community.

New facilities include:
• A welcoming reception foyer with café
• A modern gym and studio rooms
• Enhanced changing and shower facilities
• Sauna and steam rooms
• Additional office and storage spaces

It’s fantastic to see continued investment in community sports infrastructure, creating a modern, accessible space that will support health, wellbeing, and local activity for many years to come.

NEW CONTRACT AWARD | Killowen Contracts is proud to announce our appointment as main contractor for the new Staycity Aparthotel development in Belfast city centre, with works now officially underway on site.

The project will see the transformation of Beaufort House, a nine-storey, 46,000 sqft office building on Wellington Place, formerly home to HMRC offices, into Staycity’s first aparthotel in Northern Ireland - a 98-room aparthotel comprising a mix of studio and one-bedroom apartments, designed to offer guests the flexibility and comfort of apartment living with hotel-quality services.

Killowen Contracts is delivering real impact through Pagabo managed frameworks.

Recently, Pagabo showcased a range of public sector projects currently being delivered across the UK (https://lnkd.in/eqxdeEvM) - highlighting how public sector organisations continue to deliver real impact through Pagabo managed frameworks.

One example is the Dromalane House resurfacing works in Newry, currently being delivered by the Killowen Contracts team for the Southern Health and Social Care Trust.

The project was procured through the Pagabo DPS for Small Works Framework and includes resurfacing existing roadways, installing new kerbs, replacing defective manholes and gullies, providing accessibility ramps, and reinstating road markings.

These improvements will enhance site accessibility, safety, and the overall quality of infrastructure for staff, visitors, and service users.

Killowen Contracts is proud to announce the successful completion of the refurbishment at Chestnut Grove Care Home in Belfast for Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

This comprehensive upgrade of the Eastern Wing has enhanced the living environment for residents by reconfiguring spaces to create new ensuite facilities that significantly improve resident dignity and comfort.

The project required precision planning and coordination to minimise disruption while delivering lasting improvements to this essential health and social care facility.

Following recent social media coverage and enquiries regarding development works on Upper Dromore Road, Warrenpoint, we would like to clarify as follows.

Killowen Contracts Ltd purchased this land after the plot was marketed and zoned for economic development.

PLANNING APPLICATION LA07/2025/0207/F.
Relates solely to the internal fitout of our existing Warehouse to create office space.
No works associated with this application are being undertaken externally, or within 10m of a watercourse.

The Warehouse referred to was passed within Planning Application Ref LA/2019/1682/F approved 15th December 2021.

PLANNING APPLICATION LA07/2023/3269/F.
Any works being undertaken in adjacent land is not associated with Planning Application LA07/2025/0207/F. It has been passed on 17th January 2025 under application LA07/2023/3269/F.

This approval relates solely to groundwork.
No planning application has been submitted to erect commercial or industrial sheds on this plot.

The planning application for the aforementioned groundworks (LA07/2023/3269/F) was informed by two public consultation processes.

All feedback and recommendations received from members of the public during the consultation process (held in August 2023) were duly considered and incorporated where required.

Regarding comments linking this development as an extension to Warrenpoint Port, all are incorrect and not factual.

We appreciate everyone is entitled to opinion however it is important people are aware of factual content especially if sharing on social media.

We hope above clears up any concerns people may have had and if any concerns are not addressed, please feel free to contact us.

Our intention is to relocate our Head Office within the existing Warehouse to centralise company operations and improve staff facilities.

Killowen Contracts has commenced a major refurbishment project at the McAuley Building, Mater Hospital Belfast, on behalf of Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.

The significant project, which began in late 2025, involves the complete replacement of the building's rainscreen cladding system, including subframe, membranes and insulation.

This envelope replacement will deliver major improvements to the building's thermal performance, weather protection and energy efficiency, whilst extending its operational lifespan for years to come.

This represents a substantial investment in the long-term performance and sustainability of this vital healthcare facility.
