Before a landmark project opens to the public, it takes a few weeks of grit, heavy machinery, and flawless craftsmanship to set the stage.

At MMK Civil Engineers Ltd, we are just one final visit away from handing over our groundwork and premium granite sett surfacing packages for Milton Keynes City Council's stunning new public realm and art installation.

The bronze sculptures are being installed, our final layers are going down, and the site is transforming daily. We can't wait to share the finished article with you once the final handovers are complete ahead of the grand opening this month.

This is a recent access track resurfacing job we completed in Northampton.

Initially, we regulated the existing surface, filled and compacted the potholes, then laid an overlay of recycled asphalt planings and compacted down to give a nice refreshed smooth access road.

We utilised our wheeled loader on this job as it has a built in floatation boom which can grade the material off to form a nice surface ready for our compaction equipment.

We also offer to resurface these type tracks using one of our asphalt pavers, which with their in built electric screeds, can heat the planings to allow them to bind together better when laid and compacted.

Of course, if your budget suits we can offer resurfacing with fresh asphalt / tarmac, but as a company we know its important to assist our existing and new customers by offering various options to suit their budget.

We have just completed on this project near Banbury.
This project was an extension of a residential driveway, installation of granite stone edgings, and granular sub base followed by surfacing with a decorative chipping. We also extended the existing drop kerb to allow parking on the extended driveway. The customer requested that the existing granite setts were reused on the drop kerb extension to keep in with the surrounding kerbs within the street / village.
We are a West and North Northamptonshire council approved company and Constructionline Gold verified.

This is a project we have completed in Northampton for a repeat client.

The premises is a busy vehicle sales and service business in Northampton, and therefore initially contacted us to enquire what we would suggest to resurface the rear yard area with minimal disruption to the business.

From our site visit / survey we established that there would be new surface water drainage required, breaking out and regulating of failed areas and high spots on the existing surfacing, so we offered a solution of completing the drainage, regulating, and tack coat and resurfacing over two weekends.

Our estimating team sent a competitive quote to suit the working requirements, and the client agreed to proceed.

The area was surfaced with an SMA surface course asphalt due to its enhanced durability and resistance to harsh environments compared to standard asphalt road mixes.

Thanks to MQP for the material supply on the weekend.

We’ve just secured a new project at an industrial depot in Northampton.

Most people know MMK Civils & Surfacing Ltd for our groundworks and tarmac, but we’re switching things up for this one. We’ll be handling the full supply and installation of Armco barriers across the site.

It’s slightly outside our “ordinary” day-to-day, but when a long-term client asks you to help out with their safety infrastructure, you don’t say no. There’s no better compliment than a repeat customer trusting you with a different side of their site.

We’re scheduled to get stuck in and start on-site in about 4-5 weeks.

It’ll be good to show that we’re just as handy with safety steel barriers as we are with a digger, roller or paving machine!!!

We have just completed on this tarmac resurfacing project in Leicester for a national telecommunications company.

This resurfacing was a mutual agreement between the landowners and the telecom company as they use this access to maintain a large mast on the site.

Over a couple of days we saw cut and removed the existing, resurfaced and installed bitumen overbanding and cleared site, utilising our own insulated asphalt / tarmac tipper on the job.

The MMK Civil Engineers & Surfacing Ltd team has been flat out this weekend! We’ve been at a busy vehicle sales and servicing depot, getting the groundwork perfect before the final finish.

What we’ve been up to:

✅ Existing surface prep & concrete reinstatement
✅ Regulating work for a flawless level

The Goal: Getting everything ready for the tack coat and SMA surfacing next weekend!

We have started today on a section of road repair at this large allotment in Leicester.

We have saw cut the affected area, broken out, excavated and removed the surplus off site. Now all that’s left is to resurface the area and install bitumen overbanding.
