When a poorly made UV lamp fails at the seal, production stops.

Most UV lamp failures start where you can't see them: at the cap and seal. That's why Alpha-Cure engineers this critical area differently.

The difference is that we don’t treat the seal as just another process. We’ve invested in precision sealing processes, tighter quality controls, superior materials, and developed our testing to ensure your lamps perform consistently throughout their lifespan.

When evaluating UV lamp performance, it's often the details you can't see that have the greatest impact on reliability, output, and total operating life.

Not here though.

Because our customers around the world still need their lamps, even in August.

DG or non-DG?
When shipping mercury UV lamps, knowing the difference is important.

A UV lamp shipment that falls under Dangerous Goods regulations can't simply be treated in the same way as a standard, non-DG shipment.

The mercury content, number of lamps and method of transport all need to be considered before the shipment leaves the factory.

Correct classification means the right packaging, documentation and shipping procedures can be put in place from the start.

Get it wrong and the consequences can include delayed or rejected shipments, additional costs and potentially serious penalties.

At Alpha-Cure, we take the transportation of mercury UV lamps seriously. Understanding whether a shipment is DG or non-DG is an important part of making sure our lamps are shipped safely, correctly and compliantly.

Our latest article explains what makes a UV lamp shipment Dangerous Goods and why getting the classification right matters.

Late Announcement...
The marketing team has officially received a smack on the wrist...
Why? Because it has only taken us 6 months to introduce the newest member of the Alpha-Cure team. Better late than never, right?

So here’s a belated but very warm welcome to Thomas King, who joined the team back in January as our new Design Engineer.

Thomas graduated from Aston University last July with a degree in Product Design and Technology, making him the perfect fit for designing new UV lamp solutions and modifying existing lamps to meet our customers' exact requirements.

He's already made a great start, so we're only slightly embarrassed that we're just getting round to introducing him.

Fun fact: Thomas collected his Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award at Buckingham Palace in 2023, where it was presented by Prince Edward. Safe to say he's had a slightly more prestigious introduction than this social post!

We're really pleased to have Thomas as part of the Alpha-Cure team and can't wait to see what he'll help us develop in the years ahead.

Welcome to the team, Thomas... eventually. 😅

If You're Waiting Months for a Replacement Lamp, It's Time to Ask Why.

A UV lamp will eventually need replacing. That's expected.

Waiting months for a replacement isn't.

Too many companies have accepted long lead times as "just the way things are". But every extra day waiting increases the risk of downtime, missed production targets and unhappy customers.

Your lamp supplier should be helping you reduce that risk, not adding to it.

At Alpha-Cure, we've invested in manufacturing in both the UK and China, supported by global distribution, so our customers have a dependable supply when they need it most.

Because when production is on the line, reliability matters just as much as performance.

Has long lead times become the norm in your business?

Concerned about the current RoHS 2027 Mercury Lamp exemption review?

Here is a great overview of the current status of the review, and process that is being followed by the EU. It's been written by Jennifer Heathcote (GEW) for the UV&EB Technology website (thank you 🙂). https://ow.ly/Eek850Znl9m

Any company using UV mercury vapour lamps in Europe is a stakeholder and can participate in the public commentary period which closes on 24 July 2026 .

In the article you will find links (at the bottom - https://ow.ly/bfRJ50Znl9n) for presenting comments and feedback at this crucial stage. All stakeholders are encouraged to submit comments in favour of or in opposition to the dossiers to ensure the committee is aware of how the technology is being used and whether viable alternatives currently exist.

Every summer, the same challenge returns.

Factories slow down. Warehouses close. Lead times stretch. Suddenly, a routine replacement lamp becomes an urgent problem.

At Alpha-Cure, August is business as usual.

Our manufacturing and distribution network continues operating throughout the summer, helping customers avoid unexpected downtime when others may be working with reduced availability. Whether you need a standard replacement lamp or a more specialised solution, we're here to keep your production moving.

If you're reviewing your UV lamp stock levels or if you've recently been told of summer warehouse shutdowns, now is the time to plan ahead.

Don't let a missing lamp become a production stoppage.
