We've Been Listening...

One piece of feedback we've received from members is that it wasn't always easy to find the specific benefit they were looking for on the NPTA website. So, we've done something about it.
We've completely redesigned our Exclusive Member Discounts page to make it quicker and easier to find the discounts, services, and support that can help your business save money and grow. Over the past few months, we've been working behind the scenes on one of the most significant content projects we've undertaken for the NPTA website.

Our new Pest Species Hub is a growing resource designed to help the public, businesses and pest professionals better understand the UK's most common pest issues.

This isn't just a single webpage, it’s the foundation of a series of species-specific guides covering identification, risks, prevention and professional control methods.

And we're only just getting started. More species pages and increased specialist content will continue to be added over the coming months.

Why is this important?

For members, these pages provide a valuable resource to share with customers.

For the public, they offer reliable, professional information from the UK's largest trade association representing pest management companies.

For the NPTA, they form a key part of our wider strategy to improve awareness of pest management, increase our digital presence, and help more people find qualified professional pest controllers when they need one.

Yellow-Legged Hornet (AKA Asian Hornet) Update

The National Bee Unit has reported five further credible Yellow-Legged Hornet (Vespa velutina) sightings in Great Britain on 22nd May 2026:

📍 Shirley, Southampton
📍 New Romney, Kent
📍 Charing, Ashford, Kent
📍 Rother, East Sussex (2 sightings)

Several hornets were captured and killed, while investigations continue in some locations.

Alongside these latest sightings, Defra has confirmed a change in its approach for 2026. Following evidence suggesting a limited established population of Yellow-Legged Hornets in England, spring trapping will not take place this year. Instead, efforts will focus on investigating credible reports and locating and destroying nests later in the season.

Accurate identification and reporting remain important. If you spot a suspected Yellow-Legged Hornet, please report it using the:
