🏡 A new garage might be a relatively small building project, but what goes underneath it still needs to be done properly.

For this project at a private home in Newbury, Berkshire, Scane & Sons installed a reinforced raft foundation ready for the construction of a new garage.

The work included site clearance, excavation, sub-base preparation, reinforcement and the final concrete pour - all managed carefully within a restricted residential setting where protecting the existing garden and surrounding property was just as important as the build itself.

The finished foundation is strong, level and ready for the next stage.

🌞 The UK has had one of its driest summers in years. While most of us have been enjoying the sunshine, prolonged dry weather can affect the ground below the surface.

Clay soils, which are common across Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire and Berkshire, can shrink during extended dry spells, which in some cases can contribute to ground movement.

Signs to look out for:

🚧 A waterlogged car park is more than an inconvenience. It's a safety issue and a surface damage problem that gets worse over time.

Specialist groundworks in Burcot, Oxfordshire.

Scane & Sons recently completed reinforced concrete base and wall works for a hydrotherapy pool and therapy room project.

The job included excavation, site preparation, reinforcement, concrete pumping and the use of Caltite waterproof concrete to create a strong, water-resistant structure ready for the next stage of the build.
