☀️ One of the best weekends in the Cornish calendar is almost here.

The Royal Cornwall Show is back this June 4th-6th, with everything that makes it such a brilliant family day out. Animals, tractors, food stalls, shopping, countryside traditions and hopefully plenty of sunshine too.

🌱 Once used to grow plants for the Eden Project, this site is now helping grow the next generation of sustainable businesses.

Innovation Nursery is an exciting new hub for green-tech entrepreneurs and sustainable start-ups, built around collaboration, research and new ideas for a more sustainable future.

We became involved early in the project and it quickly became clear this would be one of the most ambitious installations we’d undertaken.

Working closely with the client team, we designed an 855.6 kWp East–West solar array alongside 963.2 kWh of battery storage, carefully planned to support the Nursery’s energy use from morning through to evening.

Then came the build itself.

Through mud, ice, relentless rain and winter storms, the team delivered the groundworks, framework installation, wiring and fitting of 1380 panels, alongside nearly a megawatt-hour of battery storage capacity.

This video captures that process from start to finish, and the scale of what was achieved on site over the winter months.

In 2024, we delivered a large-scale solar PV installation Hill Farm in Devon, designed to reduce energy costs and improve sustainability.

This year, we returned for the next stage of that journey.

With battery storage and intelligent energy management now added to the system, Hill Farm is evolving from simply generating renewable electricity to operating a far more flexible and resilient energy setup.

The site now combines:
☀️ 336kWp of solar generation
🌬️ Two Endurance wind turbines
🔋 Alpha ESS UK battery storage with AI-driven energy management

The result is a smarter system that can store, optimise and make better use of the energy already being generated on site.

It’s a great example of how renewable energy systems can evolve over time as businesses look for greater efficiency, stronger returns and improved energy security.

The short answer is yes to both. Systems are designed for it, fixed into the structure of the roof and built to handle exposed conditions.

🏡 Great weekend at the Cornwall Home & Garden Show

We’ve had some brilliant conversations with homeowners and businesses about solar, battery storage and how people are thinking about energy a little differently now.

There’s a real sense of optimism around renewable energy, not just for the future, but for the difference it’s already making to homes, businesses and everyday life here in Cornwall.

A lot of good questions came up over the weekend too, from roof fixings and battery storage to performance in exposed Cornish conditions, so we’ll be sharing a follow-up answering some of the most common ones over the coming days.
