🔨🏠 PLASTER REPAIRS & MAKING GOOD 🏠🔨

Another job completed by Cassidy Construction, this time carrying out plaster repairs following electrical installation work.

After the electrician had finished running new cables and installing sockets, we were called in to make good the walls and ceilings where sections had been chased out or opened up.

Work carried out included:

✅ Filling and repairing wall chases left from electrical cable installations.

✅ Patching damaged plaster around newly installed sockets.

✅ Repairing openings in the ceilings where access had been required for electrical work.

✅ Making good areas around existing pipework and fittings.

✅ Applying bonding plaster where required to bring the damaged areas back level.

✅ Finishing the repairs with a smooth plaster finish, ready for decorating.

🏠🔨 ANOTHER DAMP-AFFECTED WALL REPAIRED! 🔨🏠

Another recent job completed by Cassidy Construction, this time tackling damp showing through an internal wall beside a customer's front door.

The existing plaster was showing signs of damp, so rather than simply plastering over the problem, we stripped the affected area back to the original brickwork and carried out the following work:

✅ Removed the existing skirting board and stripped away the affected plaster to expose the brickwork.

✅ Applied two coats of bitumen-based waterproofing treatment to the exposed masonry to provide a moisture-resistant barrier.

✅ Installed new plasterboard over the treated area.

✅ Fitted corner beading and reinforced the board joints ready for plastering.

✅ Applied a fresh plaster skim to achieve a smooth finish ready for decorating.

✅ Reinstalled the skirting board to match the existing woodwork, leaving everything looking neat and tidy.

A relatively small job, but one that makes a big difference to the appearance of the entrance hallway!

🏠🔨 ANOTHER ROOM TRANSFORMED! 🔨🏠

A recent job completed by Cassidy Construction, making some changes to improve the layout and give the room a fresh new look!

The work involved:

✅ Widening an existing doorway to create a more open and spacious feel between the rooms.

✅ Stripping back the existing wall coverings and plaster, taking the wall back to the original brickwork.

✅ Re-plasterboarding the wall to provide a fresh, even surface.

✅ Replastering the walls to achieve a smooth, professional finish ready for decorating.

The end result is a much cleaner, more modern-looking space, with the widened opening helping the rooms flow together better.

I got in touch with Cassidy Construction after seeing lots of positive feedback from others on Facebook.

Dan is absolutely brilliant and the work completed is to an excellent standard. I had a chimney breast removed with gallows brackets installed in the room above. Full room refit followed and we are delighted with the finished room. It has transformed our home into a much higher quality. This is because Dan clearly cares about the quality of his work and his reputation in the local area (and beyond).

The most impressive thing about Cassidy Construction is the communication. From the very first day I reached out to him, his initial response and everything throughout the project - Dan is professional and sticks to everything that he says. 🏠 Another Plastering Job Completed – Landing & Stairwell Transformation! 👷‍♂️

A recent job completed by Cassidy Construction, giving this upstairs landing and stairwell a fresh new finish, ready for decorating! 🔨

The existing walls and ceilings needed some attention, so we carried out the following work:

✅ Overboarded the landing ceiling with new plasterboard.

✅ Stripped back the two external walls to the blockwork, before dot and dabbing new plasterboards to create a fresh, even surface.

✅ Taped and prepared all plasterboard joints ready for plastering.

✅ Fully skimmed the upstairs landing walls and ceiling.

✅ Skimmed the stairwell wall to bring everything together with a smooth, consistent finish.

With the plastering now complete, the landing and stairwell are looking much fresher and are ready for the next stage of the transformation once fully dried! 👌

🏠 Bay Window Ceiling – Freshly Skimmed

A nice plastering job completed today after being brought in by a joiner I regularly work alongside.

All the preparation work had already been completed by the joiner, leaving the bay window ceiling ready for me to come in and apply the finishing skim.

With the different angles around the bay, it was all finished off neatly and left smooth and ready for decorating once fully dried. 👌

Another good example of working alongside other local trades to get the job completed to a high standard.

Plastering work undertaken – from smaller jobs and repairs to full rooms and larger projects.

🏠 Chimney Breast Removal & Full Room Transformation 🔨

Another big transformation completed by Cassidy Construction, with this room taken right back and completely refreshed from top to bottom.

🔨 Chimney breast removal – the chimney breast was removed through the upstairs bedroom, with the remaining chimney safely supported using gallows brackets.

🔥 Upstairs making good – a new timber stud frame was constructed around the supports, boarded using Fireline plasterboard, replastered and the existing skirting boards refitted, leaving everything looking like the chimney had never been touched.

🏠 Downstairs ceiling – the existing ceiling was counter-battened and re-boarded, with Fireline board installed beneath the chimney and gallows bracket area before being fully plastered.

🧱 Walls – the former chimney wall was re-boarded using the dot-and-dab method before all the walls were plastered, giving the room a fresh, smooth finish ready for decorating.

⚡ Electrics & lighting – new double sockets were installed along with concealed speaker cabling ready for the customer's new entertainment system. The existing centre ceiling rose was also removed and replaced with 4 new LED downlights, giving the room a cleaner, more modern finish.

🛠️ Floor preparation – the floor was patched where the chimney breast had previously stood, incorporating a Visqueen membrane beneath the repair to help prevent moisture coming through. The complete floor was then self-levelled to provide a smooth and even base.

💧 Once prepared and sufficiently dried, the floor received 2 coats of DPM ready for the new flooring.

🪵 The finishing touch – glue-down oak flooring was installed in a herringbone pattern, followed by new skirting boards throughout and a new set of architraves.

A lot of work and different stages went into this one, but it's made a huge difference to the room, and the herringbone oak flooring really finishes the transformation off. 👌

Now it's over to the customer's decorator for the final touches. 🎨
