Cornish cottage - preservation in progress!

☑️Industrial timber treatment (wet rot/ dry rot/ wood boring beetle.

☑️Rotten timbers replaced, repaired and braced for structural strength.

☑️Rockwool sound block insulation installed.

☑️Breathable felt installed with batons.

☑️Wood-wool boards installed.

☑️First dubbing out, rendering scratch coat.

Currently working away on this lovely 1890’s cottage🏡☀️

Unfortunately it’s been covered in all the wrong materials since the 1960’s when it was converted from the local post office back into a cottage. It’s had years of water ingress, which has caused several damp issues, blown render, rotten woodwork and a wood boring beetle infestation! The building is a mixture of stone, red brick with an upper level timber frame infill. More pictures to follow as we address all those issues and finish it with a traditional 3 coat lime render, bringing the building back to its former glory 😉
