In the last few weeks, we have enjoyed students spending time with us for their work experience placements.

Thank you to Rosie, Christian, Diya, Tristan, Adam, Jack, Robert and Katie for choosing to learn more about careers in Engineering with us at Apsley, with Ethan and Leo due before the end of the year.

Our students have been getting stuck into the world of real engineering, gaining practical experience with CNC machinery, setting tools, producing components, carrying out inspections and tackling real-life challenges along the way.

Experiences like these give young people a valuable insight into what a career in engineering can really look like — building confidence, developing practical skills and discovering where their curiosity can take them.

A huge thank you to the schools and colleges who continue to work with us, and to all the students who have brought enthusiasm, creativity and a fantastic attitude.

Who knows… we may have met the next generation of engineers!

A fantastic evening at the SETA Southampton Awards, where our Production Manager, Kev, was proud to celebrate the achievements of apprentices from across the region – including our very own Tommy!

It was an inspiring event recognising the hard work, dedication and success of so many talented apprentices. Congratulations to everyone who received a certificate or award, presented by special guest speaker, former Southampton Premier League footballer, Francis Benali MBE.

We're incredibly proud of Tommy and all he has accomplished. Well done from everyone at Apsley – here's to an exciting future ahead!

Great news – Apsley Engineering has successfully passed its audit for the 9th year running!

A huge congratulations to Sam for her outstanding work managing our quality systems, and a big thank you to every member of the team whose attention to detail and commitment to quality made this achievement possible.

AS9100 is the internationally recognised quality standard for the aerospace and defence industries, and maintaining certification demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering the highest standards to our customers.

We'd also like to thank Nigel and Dave from NQA for spending two days auditing our systems and processes. Their professionalism and expertise help us continue to improve and maintain excellence.

A fantastic team achievement – well done everyone!

Congratulations to the team from Chemring Countermeasures on successfully completing their two-day RBVE charity cycle ride to Ypres over the weekend.

The Royal British Veterans Enterprise (RBVE) help veterans, their families and people with disabilities, many of whom are living with life changing injuries, PTSD, and the long term effects of service, to lead independent and fulfilling lives by creating jobs, providing homes, and building communities.

The RBVE was founded to support WW1 veterans, so this cycle ride poignantly ended at the battlefields of Ypres, Belgium at Menin Gate and the riders attended The Last Post ceremony.

Cycling in the exceptionally hot conditions made the achievement even more impressive.

Apsley Precision Engineering is proud to have supported both the team and this worthy cause once again this year.

If you would like to support their fantastic effort and this important charity, there is still time to donate using the link below.

*Men's Health Week*

This week is Men's Health Week, an important opportunity to raise awareness of the physical and mental health challenges facing men and to encourage positive conversations about wellbeing.

At Apsley, around 80% of our workforce are men, making this a topic that is particularly relevant to our team. Whether it's staying active, attending health check-ups, managing stress, or simply checking in on a colleague, small actions can make a big difference.

Men are often less likely to seek help when they need it, but looking after your health is a sign of strength, not weakness. Taking time to prioritise your wellbeing benefits not only you, but also your family, friends, and colleagues.

Let's use Men's Health Week as a reminder to start conversations, support one another, and make health a priority all year round.

Take care of yourself. Check in with a mate. Speak up if you need support.

This week we attended the first of the Uncrewed Systems Network events - Logistics & Supply Chain, held in the Grade II listed building of STEAM (the Museum of the Great Western Railway, Swindon).

The day focused on building resilient, UK based supply chains to support the scale up and sustainment of uncrewed systems. Speakers spoke knowledgeably and perceptively, and the workshops gave attendees opportunity to discuss real-world challenges, explore how power innovation can support the next generation of automation and develop practical references to strengthen UK supply chain resilience and readiness.

We were delighted to meet with the delegates and have impactful conversations about our precision engineering capabilities for this market.

The event was expertly hosted by SDO Associates who are specialists in the Defence, Aerospace and Space markets, and was sponsored by STARK, Leidos, Influence Tech PR and Custom Power.

Following a recent Health & Safety review and updated forklift training, we have revised our delivery procedures at our premises.

These measures are designed to further improve pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of collisions involving forklifts and vehicles.

We have already contacted our current suppliers, but if further information needed, please get in touch.

Last week our management team visited the UK’s national bi-annual exhibition for engineering and manufacturing, MACH at the NEC.

Jon, our Operations Manager, shared:

“MACH is a fantastic event for us, bringing together so many machinery and tooling suppliers under one roof. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our existing partners such as Citizen, Matsuura, Hexagon, XYZ, as well as inspection specialists Aberlink and Keyence — and to explore the latest innovations in the market.

"It also gave us valuable time as a team to step away from the day-to-day and focus on the future of our business.”
