Following a recent Health & Safety review and updated forklift training, we have revised our delivery procedures at our premises.

These measures are designed to further improve pedestrian safety and reduce the risk of collisions involving forklifts and vehicles.

We have already contacted our current suppliers, but if further information needed, please get in touch.

Last week our management team visited the UK’s national bi-annual exhibition for engineering and manufacturing, MACH at the NEC.

Jon, our Operations Manager, shared:

“MACH is a fantastic event for us, bringing together so many machinery and tooling suppliers under one roof. It’s a great opportunity to connect with our existing partners such as Citizen, Matsuura, Hexagon, XYZ, as well as inspection specialists Aberlink and Keyence — and to explore the latest innovations in the market.

"It also gave us valuable time as a team to step away from the day-to-day and focus on the future of our business.”

Every year, we run a Customer Satisfaction Survey to better understand how we’re performing and where we can improve. With over 161,000 components delivered, listening to our customers is essential to maintaining and raising our standards.

We hold ourselves to high expectations through our quality systems—and we’re proud that these standards align with the rigorous requirements many of our customers have around product quality, delivery, and communication.

We’ve been incredibly encouraged by the response. Not only have we received valuable, actionable feedback, but for every completed survey, we’re making a donation to Julia’s House—a wonderful local charity that provides vital practical and emotional support to families caring for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

Over the next few posts, we’ll be sharing some of the feedback we’ve received. Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to contribute—we truly appreciate it.

Nothing beats a bit of downtime and good company… especially when it involves baked potatoes and many delicious toppings!

Our team took some well-earned time out to enjoy great food, a catch-up, and a bit of social time together — with two very special (and very cute!) baby guests joining us too.

Overheard discussions included one very passionate conversation about the order of cheese and chilli on the spuds!

A huge thank you to Sam for preparing all the wonderful food — it was very much appreciated by everyone.

New Machine Investment

We’re pleased to welcome our latest addition — the XYZ RMX 3500 from XYZ Machine Tools.

This investment replaces an older machine that had reached the end of its life, and marks another step forward in future-proofing our workshop.

With improved specification, enhanced safety features, and advanced 3D capability, this new machine will help us continue delivering precision, efficiency, and quality for our customers.

Congratulations to two of our team for completing the training at the XYZ centre in Devon. Tommy, our apprentice, was excited to get started and see what he and the new machine are capable of together.

We were delighted to welcome Engineering students from Salisbury Sixth Form College for a tour of our facility last week.

Jon, our Operations Manager, and Peter, our Managing Director, spent time with the 19 students giving them an overview of the business and the process that raw materials go through to create different types of parts. They also visited the workshop where they were introduced to some of our machinery including our lathes, milling machines and state-of-the-art 5-axis CNC machinery.

Peter said, “We always enjoy having aspirational engineers visit us. We believe that it is important to inspire young talent and to create curiosity for this fascinating industry.”

Thank you to Lisa, Salisbury Sixth Form College Educational Visits Coordinator, for organising the trip.

Congratulations to ALABARÉ for raising over £6,000 at the magnificent fundraising event last Friday.

Historian and pilot, Paul Beaver, spoke to a sell-out crowd, including five of our team at Apsley Precision Engineering, sharing details of the fighter’s creator, R J Mitchell, and the secretive nature of their manufacturing.

Our MD Peter Aymes said: “The creation of the Spitfire is a prime example of precision engineering in itself, so we were only too happy to help ALABARÉ tell its story. We’re also incredibly supportive of the charity’s mission to break the cycle of veterans’ homelessness, in a geographical area with a proud military history.”

Over the last 35 years, ALABARÉ has broadened its impact supporting over 40,000 people with mental health challenges, adults with learning disabilities, veterans, young people, as well as parents and babies.

Last week, our MD, Peter, had the privilege of spending the day with Inspire business leaders during a fantastic visit to Knorr-Bremse in Melksham.

The group had the opportunity to see world-class manufacturing in action, including the servicing and repair of advanced braking systems for trains.

It was an inspiring and insightful day, showcasing innovation, precision engineering, and the incredible work being carried out right here in Wiltshire.

Thank you Inspire biz for organising the day and also to the team at Knorr-Bremse for the warm welcome and for giving us a behind-the-scenes look at such an impressive operation!
