What do I see here?.... Two more additions to the Fairfax fleet!
Two new 32-tonne Volvo Group wagons supplied by Crossroads Truck & Bus Ltd, complete with Sterling GP Ltd beavertail bodies, ready to join our growing transport fleet.
They just need a little Fairfax branding magic and they’ll be ready to hit the road! ✨
Our transport operation is a huge part of the service we provide, allowing us to move machinery efficiently across our three depots and directly to customers sites.

Pinch, punch, first of the month.
Hello September, and the first day of autumn!

Not a bad view from the yard this morning, with one of our Komatsu D61 dozers parked up against a pretty spectacular Yorkshire sunrise.

Summer might be coming to an end, but things certainly aren’t slowing down at Fairfax. We’re flat out across all three depots, with machines heading out, coming back in and being turned around ready for the next job.

A new month, a new season and plenty happening.

Keeping our fleet moving 🔧

A look inside our Transport Maintenance Depot, where our team carries out the servicing, inspections and repairs needed to keep our transport vehicles out on the road.

Today, one of the pickups is up on the ramps having new rear brake pads and discs fitted, all handled in-house by our own team.

With 40 drivers operating across our three depots, having our own transport maintenance facilities helps us keep on top of maintenance, minimise downtime and get our vehicles back on the road as quickly as possible.

And this is just a little teaser…

We’ll soon be taking you behind the scenes at our Transport Maintenance Depot in an upcoming episode of Inside Fairfax, meeting the team and showing you more of what goes into keeping the Fairfax fleet moving.

A cracking start to the day at Fairfax
Catching one of our wagons against this morning’s sunrise, and a great reminder that while most of us are just starting the day, our drivers are already out there keeping things moving.

With 40 drivers based across our three depots Selby, Leeds & Hull, our transport team plays a huge part in what we do every day, getting machinery where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.

Early starts, busy roads and ever-changing sites all part of the job.
A big shout-out to the team behind the wheel. 👏

ADMINISTRATOR FOR THE BREAKDOWN SERVICE & MAINTENANCE TEAM

To provide support to the Service & Maintenance Team, ensuring engineering, workshop staff and managers have the information and resources required to keep the fleet maintained, compliant and available for hire.

The role requires excellent organisation, attention to detail and the ability to prioritise work within a busy engineering environment.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
Salary: £25,000–£30,000, depending on experience

Fairfax Plant Hire currently has opportunities available for:

Class II Plant Delivery Driver
Experience transporting plant and machinery is preferred. A valid Class 2 licence, Driver CPC and digital tachograph card are required. Anticipated earnings including OT £42,500

HGV Workshop Assistant
Supporting our HGV workshop with vehicle preparation, basic maintenance, cleaning and general workshop duties. Previous mechanical experience would be an advantage.

Pay meets or exceeds the applicable minimum rate.

Hire Desk Coordinator
A busy, customer-focused role coordinating plant hire orders, deliveries and collections. Plant hire or construction industry experience would be beneficial.

Salary range: £32,000 - £38,000 depending on experience


Location: Potters Site and Hemingbrough Garage
Salary: Competitive and dependent on relevant skills and experience
