✨Monthly Product Focus: Eccentric Chuck✨
The Robert Sorby Eccentric Chuck is the most advanced chuck available for multi-centre turning!
Its unique offset boss allows for easy, precise adjustments without removing the workpiece from the chuck. This boss accepts three different drive components, giving you multiple options for mounting your work. The Eccentric Chuck can drive from the headstock with or without tailstock support, and the boss can be offset in increments up to 1 ¼" (30mm) from the zero datum point🛠️
The product includes three major components:
Screw Chuck - The 1" (25mm) x ⅜" (10mm) diameter parallel wood screw delivers exceptional grip in both side grain and end grain. It requires an 8mm diameter pilot hole🪵
Faceplate - The faceplate offers an alternative method of securing the workpiece, giving the turner greater flexibility in approach - ideal for larger projects🪵
Hexagonal Ball & Socket Drive - The hexagonal ball-and-socket unit allows the workpiece to be angled up to 20 degree from the lathe’s axis, allowing the system to drive the work between centres - ideal for turning cabriole legs. The flanged, pre-drilled socket easily attaches to the workpiece and can be repositioned to index a variety of polygonal sections. This enables eccentric turning at one end of the piece that smoothly transitions back to concentricity at the other end🪵
