Celebrating 25 years working in the North East. 📍🥳

We've proudly called Durham home since 2001, when we began our partnership with NWG (Northumbrian Water Group) as a main contract partner for their AMP3 design-and-build framework.

👋 Meet Monisha, a project leader based in the Midlands, who is driving successful outcomes on our projects for key client Severn Trent.

Monisha joined our design-and-build company Mott MacDonald Bentley back in 2022, as an electrical engineer and has progressed to a project leader, managing several of our AMP8 UV schemes in the Midlands after moving across from India to start a career in the UK water sector.

Huge congratulations to JN Bentley mechanical engineer, Alex February who was named the winner in the Professional Engineer category at The Pump Centre 2026 Young Engineer Awards. 🎉🏆

The awards recognise exceptional young engineers who are driving progress and shaping the future of the UK water industry – testament to their talent, dedicate and the bright future they represent for the sector.

💬 Commenting on his win, Alex said: “It’s a proud moment for me to be recognised as the Professional Engineer of the Year for 2026 within the water sector, and I’m excited to see how my career and the industry develops in the future.”

Alex’s colleague and principal mechanical engineer Robert Bishop said “Alex's hard work in the Northumbrian framework has shown off his developing engineering skills with the result being this fantastic achievement.”

💧🦺Longbridge Sewage Treatment Works

In collaboration with Severn Trent, we're delivering MMB's largest AMP7 project - a major £56m scheme to upgrade Longbridge Sewage Treatment Works.

Located south-east of Birmingham, the treatment works is expected to serve a projected 180,000 residential and commercial properties across the wider Warwick region.

To ensure future readiness and meet evolving regulatory requirements, the team is undertaking a large-scale modernisation of the existing works, reducing ammonia consent levels and doubling treatment capacity from 734 to 1,261 litres per second.

Currently, the team is working with Naylor Concrete Products Ltd to install four 32m-diameter final settlement tanks, each comprising 96 panels, alongside a 27m-diameter primary settlement tank. The use of standardised products is delivering significant cost savings compared to traditional in-situ methods, whilst accelerating programme delivery through faster installation.

The project is set to conclude in mid-2027, delivering increased treatment capacity, improved effluent quality and a future-ready asset that supports long-term resilience for communities across the Warwick region.

We’re delighted that Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) – our fully integrated design and build company – has been named an asset delivery partner for Scottish Water’s new enterprise. 🤝💧

Set to enhance Scotland’s water and waste water assets over the period from 2027 to 2033, the enterprise will help preserve the nation’s world-class water quality, protect the environment, and ensure services continue to meet the needs of the utility’s customers.

Ian Bester, operations director at MMB, said: “We’re delighted to be confirmed as a partner on this important new enterprise with Scottish Water. Drawing on more than 25 years of experience, we will play a key role in supporting Scottish Water’s ambition to enhance and protect vital public assets, ensuring resilient water services and a healthier environment.”
