We work throughout Devon and Somerset so nowhere is too far for us. We are a friendly business and no job is too big, no detail too small. Our services include the following:

Other small carpentry works e.g hanging doors, fitting skirtings etc. A full portfolio is available on request with references from past clients, home visits to view various works carried out to date could also be arranged if required. If you are planning any works then we are able to carry out site visits and offer quotations, we have a full health and safety package, are fully insured and a current member of the Federation of Small Businesses.

It's been another busy few weeks for the team, with projects progressing right across Mid-Devon.

We're currently putting the finishing touches to a fantastic extension in Yeoford, near Crediton, while work continues on a barn conversion in Shillingford, near Bampton, where first fix plumbing, screed, and the installation of windows and doors are all underway. Our large project in the centre of Tiverton is also in the final stages of decoration and is looking brilliant - if we do say so ourselves.

Alongside these larger projects, we are also completing a number of smaller jobs in Exeter and Tiverton, keeping the team busy throughout the summer!

We know that the finished result is what everyone sees, but here at John Tolly Carpentry and Building Services we think it's the workmanship behind the scenes that really matters.

Whether it's perfectly fitted timber, structural carpentry or the finer finishing details, taking the time to do things properly is what creates a home that's built to last.

We really enjoyed being part of Tiverton High School's Work Experience and Careers Exploration Week last week.

It was a pleasure to spend time with the students, helping them create something with their own hands and giving them a glimpse into the building trade. Seeing how proud they were of what they'd achieved by the end of the session was fantastic.

A big thank you to the schoool for inviting us to be involved. It's always rewarding to support young people as they explore their future career options as we all remember how daunting it can be!

It's great to see progress continuing on our extension project in Yeoford, near Crediton.

The external walls have now been fully insulated, the glazing has been installed, and we're moving forward with the plastering and internal woodwork. It's rewarding to see a project really start to take shape as it moves into the finishing stages.

We're also pleased to have recently started work on a new project outside Shillingford, near Bampton, where we'll be converting an agricultural barn into a new home. It's an exciting project and we're looking forward to sharing updates as the transformation progresses.

We were delighted to be asked to create bespoke doors, a sink area, and a range of finishing touches for Hawke Barn , a stunning wedding and events venue in Stoodleigh, near Tiverton.

An important part of the project was to make sure that every new addition blended seamlessly with the barn's existing character and features. From the craftsmanship to the final details, everything was carefully designed to complement the venue's unique style and is ready for the final paint finish.

We recently completed this bespoke built-in storage solution for a client, in a small and awkward corner of a bathroom.

The client wanted to paint the finished product themselves, so our job was to make sure everything was perfectly prepped and ready to go. Here's what we did:

✅ Built the custom studwork framework
✅ Installed the shelving
✅ Crafted a bespoke door to fit the exact space
✅ Fully primed and prepped, paint-ready for the client
