Hymid Technical moulding specialists, including two-shot and over-moulding Hymid excel in Single and Two Shot injection Moulding.

This is supported by UK and overseas mould tool manufacture. Our Engineering team has many years of experience in moulding and tooling and we will be happy to discuss your new or on-going projects to find the solution that fits your needs. Our specialist knowledge of two shot injection moulding has enabled us to produce a wide range of interesting products that illustrate the benefits of this inno

vative moulding technique. We are keen to share this experience to help optimise your new moulded products through our detailed design for manufacture analysis. PROJECT ENGINEERING

Hymid has many years of experience offering innovative single & two shot plastic injection moulding solutions. The two colour, two material or two shot moulding process allows product designers the opportunity to integrate value & functionality into their moulded part designs. For example, windows, seals, grips & text are just a few of the features that can be built into a single plastic moulding. We are happy to discuss your project needs to establish how Hymid can help turn your concepts into finished products. TOOLING SOLUTIONS

Good quality mould tools are the heart of any successful moulded product. We have developed close relationships with a number of toolmakers in China. This allows us to offer well managed, good quality tools at very competitive prices. Our experienced Project Engineers will carefully manage every stage of the toolmaking process to ensure tools are designed and manufactured to a standard that we are happy to guarantee. Once mould tools have been proved to produce good parts, we can then import them to our in-house moulding facility where tools will be maintained by our team of skilled toolmakers. INJECTION MOULDING

Whether your moulding needs are for single or two shot moulding we are well equipped to provide the moulding machines to suit your project. Hymid has experience of running tools with auto un-screwing mechanisms, collapsing cores, up and aways as well as hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanically actuated internal tooling elements. We can also offer second operations and assembly to complement our moulding services. In-moulded inserts can be fitted during the production cycle, or we can screw or heat stake inserts into parts after moulding.

A thorough DfM review is only as effective as the information that underpins it. Submitting a CAD model alone is rarely sufficient - the more context a DfM team has at the outset, the more accurate and actionable their recommendations will be.

To help product and engineering teams prepare for a DfM review, our latest Technical Insight sets out exactly what information is needed before an assessment can begin. Providing this information early in the process allows potential issues to be identified and resolved before they translate into tooling costs or production delays.

The full Technical Insight is available to download for free on our website.

Your tooling investment is only as sound as the design behind it.

The difference between a smooth transition from concept to production and a costly, delayed one often comes down to the quality of design review at the outset.

Our Technical Insight 'Why DfM is Vital for Products Manufactured Using Plastic Injection Moulding' draws on Hymid's decades of hands-on expertise to show what effective DfM looks like in practice, including how mould flow simulation supports evidence-based design decisions.

For teams approaching tooling, or those still in early concept development, this resource provides a clear framework for risk mitigation and making more informed decisions at every stage.

The cost of a design change increases by a factor of 10 at each stage of a product's development process, from concept, through design and tooling, to production. Identifying issues early is not just good practice, it is commercially critical.

To help product and engineering teams understand where risk commonly sits in a design, our latest Technical Insight sets out the six key elements that every DfM review should examine.

Understanding these factors early gives development teams the opportunity to resolve problems before they become expensive, protecting both tooling investment and time to market.

Approximately 70% of a product's manufacturing cost is determined at the design stage, before tooling begins and before a single component is produced. Yet Design for Manufacture (DfM) remains one of the most underutilised disciplines in product development.

To help design and engineering teams understand what to look out for, we have published our first downloadable Technical Insight: Why DfM is Vital for Products Manufactured Using Plastic Injection Moulding.

This resource explores why early DfM engagement is critical to successful injection moulding, ultimately reducing tooling cost, improving part quality, and accelerating time to market.

Our quality technicians carry out thorough checks using a range of precision measuring tools, because sustained quality across a production run doesn't happen by chance.

From first-off inspection through to in-process and last-off inspection, our quality process is structured to catch variation before it becomes a problem.

It's methodical work - using the right tool for the right measurement, applied at the right point in production. It's also essential work. When a customer receives a batch of components, they don't need to think about whether the last part off the tool matches the first, they have confidence that we don't allow for quality errors to slip through the cracks. Our standard doesn't move.

We're proud to be featured by our machinery partners Arburg GmbH + Co KG in their recent press release.

The article explores Hymid's 14-year automation journey, from our first robots in 2012 to our most recent investment in a 200-tonne 2K/two-shot machine with a six-axis robot. It shows how the right technology, the right people, and the right partnerships can drive real progress.

At Hymid, we believe that investing in the next generation of talent is just as important as investing in our technology and processes.

Last week, we were pleased to welcome a work experience student from Torquay Boys' Grammar School to our facility. Over the course of the week, he gained a broad understanding of how a modern manufacturing business operates through spending time across quality control, supply chain, marketing and sales, and in our tool room, where he saw first-hand the skill and precision that goes into maintaining mould tools.

He also had the opportunity to work with SolidWorks, designing a pen holder using CAD software and seeing it through to a finished 3D printed part that he took home with him - a tangible example of a product journey from concept to creation.

He reflected on his experience with us, saying "Overall, I think my time at Hymid was really interesting and beneficial in my career. Looking at different jobs and what they entailed was helpful in deciding my future career paths. I really enjoyed my time in the tool room where I got to see what goes into keeping the machines running and look inside the complex mould tools. One of my favourite parts was working on SolidWorks where I managed to create a pen holder that could be 3d printed into reality. I’d like to thank Hymid for having me and spending the time giving me overviews of each area of the business and for helping me 3D print my designed parts."

We're proud to support this, and we wish our student well as he considers his next steps.

Consistency in injection moulding isn't just a quality metric, it's a measure of how well a process is understood and controlled.

At Hymid, our production facility runs over 4 million components a year, so maintaining tight tolerances and repeatable quality across that volume requires disciplined process monitoring, regular metrology checks, and an expert team that treats every run with the same level of attention. Our rigorous quality checks ensure components come off the tool correctly, first time and every time, avoiding additional unnecessary cost and complexity from the entire process.

If you would like to discuss how our quality measures could benefit your project, don't hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

In high-performance manufacturing, small issues with tooling can have a direct impact on finished product quality, production efficiency, and long-term cost control.

At Hymid, we manage tooling maintenance within our dedicated tool room environment to ensure every mould operates at optimal performance. Through regular inspection, preventative maintenance, and controlled handling, we’re able to safeguard both tool integrity and production output.

This results in more consistent parts, longer-lasting tools, and fewer disruptions across the manufacturing cycle.

Taking a proactive approach to mould tool maintenance isn’t just about avoiding problems, it’s about enabling better, more reliable manufacturing.
