Good quality mould tools are the heart of any successful moulded product. We have developed close relationships with a number of toolmakers in China. This allows us to offer well managed, good quality tools at very competitive prices. Our experienced Project Engineers will carefully manage every stage of the toolmaking process to ensure tools are designed and manufactured to a standard that we are happy to guarantee. Once mould tools have been proved to produce good parts, we can then import them to our in-house moulding facility where tools will be maintained by our team of skilled toolmakers. INJECTION MOULDING

Whether your moulding needs are for single or two shot moulding we are well equipped to provide the moulding machines to suit your project. Hymid has experience of running tools with auto un-screwing mechanisms, collapsing cores, up and aways as well as hydraulic, pneumatic or mechanically actuated internal tooling elements. We can also offer second operations and assembly to complement our moulding services. In-moulded inserts can be fitted during the production cycle, or we can screw or heat stake inserts into parts after moulding.

Every additional supplier in a production process introduces a handoff, which in turn can introduce further cost, lead time and the potential for error.

Alongside our core injection moulding capability, Hymid offers a range of second operations carried out in-house on components we produce. Rather than returning moulded parts to a customer's facility in a form that requires further processing elsewhere, we complete those operations as part of a single, managed workflow.

The practical benefit is a simpler and leaner supply chain, but it also means working with a partner who can take a broader view of how a part moves through production, not just how it comes out of the tool. Ultimately, this means reduced handling, tighter quality control and a more direct line between moulding and the end assembly.

The Hymid team attended the Interplas and Med-Tech Innovation 2026 expos at the NEC, Birmingham, this week, where we engaged with fellow specialists to stay at the forefront of developments across injection moulding, materials and process innovation.

Of particular note was the opportunity to see demonstrate their new Allrounder Trend machine live on the stand, moulding SimbioTex's seaweed-based ThermoSea material in real time, ahead of our own Allrounder Trend arriving at our manufacturing facility in the coming weeks.

We strive to keep our knowledge base continuously updated and ensure the technical conversations we bring to development projects reflect the current state of the industry. Our quality technicians carry out thorough checks using a range of precision measuring tools, because sustained quality across a production run doesn't happen by chance.

From first-off inspection through to in-process and last-off inspection, our quality process is structured to catch variation before it becomes a problem.

It's methodical work - using the right tool for the right measurement, applied at the right point in production. It's also essential work. When a customer receives a batch of components, they don't need to think about whether the last part off the tool matches the first, they have confidence that we don't allow for quality errors to slip through the cracks. Our standard doesn't move.

At Hymid, we believe that investing in the next generation of talent is just as important as investing in our technology and processes.

Last week, we were pleased to welcome a work experience student from Torquay Boys' Grammar School to our facility. Over the course of the week, he gained a broad understanding of how a modern manufacturing business operates through spending time across quality control, supply chain, marketing and sales, and in our tool room, where he saw first-hand the skill and precision that goes into maintaining mould tools.

He also had the opportunity to work with SolidWorks, designing a pen holder using CAD software and seeing it through to a finished 3D printed part that he took home with him - a tangible example of a product journey from concept to creation.

He reflected on his experience with us, saying "Overall, I think my time at Hymid was really interesting and beneficial in my career. Looking at different jobs and what they entailed was helpful in deciding my future career paths. I really enjoyed my time in the tool room where I got to see what goes into keeping the machines running and look inside the complex mould tools. One of my favourite parts was working on SolidWorks where I managed to create a pen holder that could be 3d printed into reality. I’d like to thank Hymid for having me and spending the time giving me overviews of each area of the business and for helping me 3D print my designed parts."

We're proud to support this, and we wish our student well as he considers his next steps.
