SICUT HAS BEEN SELECTED AS A FINALIST FOR THE NATIONAL RAIL AWARDS 2024

Sicut is thrilled to announce that it has once again been shortlisted for a major railway industry award. Following hotly on the heels of its shortlisting for Deutsche Bahn’s biannual Innovation Award, Sicut has also been selected by a panel of judges for the finals of the UK’s 2024 National Rail Awards in the Environmental Excellence category.

Sicut’s shortlisting not only reflects the huge impact Sicut's UK-manufactured sleepers have already had on local rail infrastructure, but also the much greater impact that they are having globally, as more and more railways adopt Sicut sleepers as a superior alternative to hardwood, and increasingly to concrete.

Since gaining full product approval from Network Rail in 2021, Sicut has saved Rail 6,370,000 kg in embodied CO2e; and helped the UK recycle the equivalent of 210,000,000 waste plastic bottles; and saved the need to fell thousands of trees in the Brazilian rainforest. This impact will continue to multiply over the coming decades as the railway reaps the benefit of greatly reduced sleeper maintenance and renewal interventions. Because all Sicut’s products are re-usable and recyclable at the end of their planned lives, they also represent an almost perfect solution.

We look forward to the National Rail Awards ceremony and wish our fellow finalists in this increasingly important category the very best of luck.
