⚠️A Hydraulic Power Unit built in the workshop at Hedley Hydraulics, providing power in a hazardous environment.

It's designed to drive a skimmer unit, and it needed to work safely in an ATEX Zone 2 environment, so we built it with an air-driven motor. By using compressed air to generate hydraulic power, it delivers all the force and control hydraulic systems are known for, without the ignition risk of an electric motor.

To give you a sense of the build: 10 LPM for the main drive and 20 LPM for circulation, running at 70 bar, powered by a 4kW max motor, with a 160L reservoir keeping it all fed. ATEX rated for Zone 2, it's built to handle hazardous areas without compromise.

Nothing kills a project timeline like a hydraulic motor giving up mid-job.

A final drive fails on site, the machine's down, and suddenly you're chasing lead times instead of finishing the job. It's the scenario every plant manager dreads and it's exactly why we don't let a unit leave our workshop until it's proven itself on the bench.

Mechanical engineering background, and ex- Parker. Meet Sid. 👋

Sid Gill, our newest addition to the Internal Sales team at Hedley Hydraulics, joined us a month ago after a career spent almost entirely keeping the fluid power industry moving, since 1987.

Sid's background includes 23 years at Parker Hannifin, so he arrives already fluent in the products our customers rely on!

Ask Sid for the best piece of advice he's ever been given, and he won't hesitate: "When you go out and see customers, listen!" Simple, but it's clearly served him well.

When he's not at his desk, you might find him on a golf holiday, watching Tottenham, or proudly announcing his grandad status!

We regularly receive the hydraulic repair jobs nobody wants.

The cylinder that's been leaking for months because "it's not worth repairing."

The pump someone's already had a look at and quietly put aside.

The accumulator that's been sitting in the corner of the workshop gathering dust because nobody fancied it.

Yes, Hedley Hydraulics are known for custom-built HPUs but did you know we also offer a solid standard range ready to get to work?

Steel tanks from 20L to 225L, motors up to 18kW, gear pumps up to 70cc/rev, and support for up to 8-station CETOP 3/5 manifolds.

All the essentials built in as standard, level/temp gauge, return filter, pressure gauge, the lot.

Off-the-shelf doesn't mean off-spec. 💪
