Aerospace ground support equipment has its own braking demands. Tow tractors, loaders, handling systems and other ground-based machinery often work with heavy loads, frequent stops and limited room for error.

That puts pressure on brake components and friction materials, particularly where equipment is used repeatedly throughout the day.

At ICP, we support a wide range of industrial braking applications with replacement components, friction materials, refurbishment and technical support.

If you're maintaining aerospace ground support equipment and need help with an existing brake or friction component, speak to our team.

The ICP team will be in Hamburg in September for WindEnergy, meeting customers, operators, OEMs and service providers from across the wind sector. A big focus for us this year will be supporting ageing turbine fleets, where braking systems often need more than a straightforward replacement part.

If you’re attending WindEnergy Hamburg, come and speak to the team about the braking challenges you’re dealing with across your wind turbine fleet.

We’ll see you in Hamburg.

Here's a closer look at the SIBRE USB 5-I-H (50/6) currently in the ICP workshop. This is a hydraulic cylinder release disc brake, with the hydraulic cylinder replacing the thruster unit found on other USB brake configurations.

It gives customers another actuation option within the SIBRE range where hydraulic release is better suited to the system or existing setup.

As with any brake selection, the right configuration comes down to how the equipment is designed, the required braking duty and how the brake needs to operate within the wider system.

If you’re looking at a new braking application or need help identifying a suitable replacement for an existing unit, speak to the ICP team.

Defence equipment is often expected to remain in service for decades. The challenge is that original components aren't always available for as long as the equipment itself.

When OEM support comes to an end, replacing an entire system isn't always practical or cost-effective. That's where reverse engineering can play an important role.

Over the past 12 months, we've supported a defence sector customer by reverse engineering legacy friction components that were no longer available from the original manufacturer.

Using our engineering and manufacturing capabilities, we can assess existing components, recreate critical designs and produce replacement parts that help keep essential equipment operating for years to come.

If you're facing issues sourcing legacy clutch, brake or friction components, speak to our team to discuss the options available.

We’ve expanded our braking capability with the launch of ICP’s new hydraulic brake range. Developed for wind and industrial applications, the range includes both active and fail-safe designs for stopping and holding duties across demanding equipment.

The new brakes have been developed around the things that matter in service, including adjustable clamp force, larger pad areas for heat dissipation, straightforward maintenance and options for monitoring and leak detection.

We can also support customers with bespoke friction materials and engineering input where a standard brake isn’t the right fit.

Applications include wind turbines, cranes, mining equipment, marine systems, industrial machinery and material handling.

If you’re specifying a new brake or looking for an alternative to an existing unit, speak to the ICP team.

Will recently spent the day at the Farnborough International Airshow, meeting businesses across the aerospace and defence sectors and getting a closer look at some of the latest developments in the industry.

The show was a good opportunity to speak with people working across the sector, hear more about the challenges they’re facing and explore where ICP’s engineering, manufacturing and product expertise could fit.

There was plenty to take away from the day, and we’re looking forward to continuing those conversations.

Why do we exhibit with the MMMA at MACH? For ICP, a big part of it comes down to being close to the industries we already work with. We support customers across the press and sheet metal fabrication sectors with industrial clutches, brakes, engineering support and our own manufacturing capabilities.

Exhibiting within the MMMA area puts us alongside many of the businesses, machine builders and engineers working in those same markets.

It also gives us a chance to see what is changing across the industry. New machinery, technical developments and conversations with customers all give us a better picture of where the market is heading.

Nabhi spoke to the MMMA at MACH about ICP, why we became a member and what we get from being part of the association.

Take a look at the full interview below.

It was Sales vs Warehouse last week as the ICP team swapped the office and warehouse for the football pitch. There may have been a few questionable tackles and plenty of banter... but the office team came away with the win this time!

It was a great evening and a chance for everyone to get together outside of work.

We're looking forward to a rematch!

Just because an OEM no longer supports a component doesn't mean the equipment has reached the end of its life. We're seeing this more and more across industries where legacy machinery is still performing well, but critical clutch, brake or friction components have become obsolete.

That's where reverse engineering can provide a practical solution.

Our engineering team can assess worn or discontinued components, recreate the design, and manufacture replacement parts that meet the application's requirements. In some cases, we can also modify the original design to improve serviceability or adapt it to components that are readily available today.

It's an approach that's helping customers extend the life of valuable equipment, reduce downtime and avoid costly machine replacements.

If you're struggling to source obsolete clutch, brake or friction components, get in touch with the team. We'd be happy to discuss the options.

In the steel industry, reliability is expected. From continuous casting through to hot strip mills and ladle turret systems, rotating unions play a vital role in transferring water, hydraulic fluid and pneumatic media to rotating equipment operating in demanding conditions.

ICP supplies a comprehensive range of rotating unions to support these applications, including (but not limited to):

✓ IH Series for hydraulic and pneumatic systems, rotating cylinders and multi-station tables.
✓ M Series for continuous casting applications, designed to withstand dirty water and harsh operating environments.
✓ U Series universal rotating unions, providing a flexible solution across a wide range of industrial applications.

Whether you're maintaining existing equipment or looking for a replacement solution, our team can help identify the right rotating union for your application.

Get in touch to discuss your requirements.
