Researching through the Walk ..

Today, TFC Research & Innovation Limited (https://www.tfcengage.com/), with Mary Corbett, senior researcher representing the TFC team, is participating in a guided preparedness walk with local citizens as part of the B-prepared project.

The purpose of the walk is twofold. First, it helps educate participants on emergency preparedness in a practical, hands-on way. Second, it serves as real-world testing for the BPrepared , as users download it and apply it during the walk.

The session is led by our project partner, Pompiers de l'Urgence Internationale International Emergency Firefighters, an international emergency response organisation made up of who respond to major disasters such as , severe and . Their experience helps ground the exercise in real operational realities.

Instead of discussing preparedness in theory, the focus here is on learning by doing, using the app in an actual environment and seeing how people interact with it in real time.

Sessions like this are valuable for understanding our and learning what works, what doesn’t, and how the Bprepared tool can be improved before wider rollout.

Europe is stepping up its game.

The European Union is investing in AI computing infrastructure "AI Gigafactories" to increase capacity for developing and running AI systems in Europe. The European Commission is also reviewing how generative AI services fit into existing digital rules as usage grows across sectors.

The EU AI Act starts its main enforcement phase in 2026. It sets requirements for high-risk AI use, including transparency, monitoring, risk management, and human oversight.
