“The safety and wellbeing of our workforce is just as important as the work we deliver,” says Sandro Mikuljan, EHS Lead.

We speak to him as part of our series of interviews, as teams across our locations took part in our 2026 Construction Safety Campaign. He explains, “These campaigns provide an opportunity to bring people together, recognise good performance, and promote engagement.”
As part of our 2026 Construction Safety Campaign, teams across Europe held various workshops and demonstrations.

The campaign saw us refocus in on the basics, the tasks we carry out every day, the ones that can easily become a habit. By challenging ourselves to stay alert, engaged and committed to safe working practices, we help create a stronger, safer workplace for everyone.

We explore Sandro’s career to date. From working on overhead power transmission projects in Norway - with critical infrastructure upgrades delivered through helicopter assisted operations - to seismic exploration in Libya and Syria, and the construction of national infrastructure in his home-country of Croatia, he now brings his expertise and passion to Kirby, and our data centre projects in Italy.

The third episode of DIY SOS: The Big Build Ireland aired on Sunday, showcasing the life-changing transformation of the Leonard family home in Bray.

Hannah was seriously injured after being struck by a car while training for the Dublin Marathon in Sicily in 2024. Significant adaptations were needed to prepare the house for her return, made possible through the efforts of the team and volunteers.

Catch up on previous episodes on the RTÉ Player, including the Limerick build for four-year-old Carter and the Purcell family home in Westbury, Limerick.

The final build of the series airs next Sunday, 24 October, at 6.30pm on RTÉ One.

From Switzerland to Milan, Ella's bursary opened doors for her at home and abroad.

Now an Electrical Engineer at Kirby, Ella Peare was one of the first recipients of our female bursary programme in 2022.

What followed was an eight-month student placement, splitting her time between Zurich and Milan, and later a place on our graduate programme.

She's now an Electrical Engineer in Milan, Italy. "The opportunities for growth and development are next level, both during the graduate programme and long into your career as a senior engineer," she says.

"I have had to chance to meet and work alongside some amazing people who have all helped, supported and taught me invaluable information, getting me to the engineer I am today. I’ve also been fortunate to live and work in beautiful European cities, which has been an amazing experience both professionally and personally."

Kirby was delighted to be part of the first Constructing Equality Ireland roundtable discussion, joining industry colleagues, educators, graduates, community organisations and industry bodies to share perspectives and explore the opportunities and challenges shaping our sector.

The insights gathered will help inform the development of a sector-wide Gender Equality Action Plan, which will be published in 2027.
