A tailored approach to thermal stability and performance.
The acquisition of Spandau represented far more than an expansion of our product portfolio: it brought together expertise, application know-how, and engineering experience that continue to grow with us today.
Alongside standard SPANDAU products, custom configurations and tailored solutions have become an increasingly important part of our daily work, evolving into a dedicated area managed with structure, experience, and a clear strategic approach.
This context led to an exciting project: the redesign of a Spandau pump for a long-standing customer operating in the wire EDM industry.
In this sector, precision is not simply a goal, it is an essential requirement. These machines process extremely hard materials with tolerances measured in thousandths of a millimeter, thinner than a hair. Continuous production cycles, high operating speeds, and demanding working conditions make thermal stability a critical factor in ensuring consistent long-term performance.
For the customer, already familiar with Spandau solutions, this initially represented a natural continuation of existing technology. For us, however, it marked the beginning of a new application field and a different approach to interpreting the pump-motor system.
One of the main challenges involved a technology that had not previously been part of our direct experience: liquid-cooled motors supplied by a specialized partner and integrated into the overall solution.
This required far more than a simple adaptation. It became an opportunity to rethink the customization of the entire project, focusing on system architecture, component balancing, and functional integration. We also worked on the design itself, aiming to improve thermal management and achieve higher levels of stability, operational continuity, and reliability.
This was not about continuing an existing supply relationship, but about starting a true co-development journey. Our technical team worked side by side with both the customer and the motor specialist partner to redefine requirements, constraints, and expectations from the ground up.
The result is much more than a product: it is a fully tailored project developed through a continuous improvement mindset inspired by the Kaizen philosophy. An approach that allows us to keep evolving, push customization further, and open new opportunities for future challenges.
