IPM (Integrated Pest Management) offers a sustainable approach to farming by promoting the responsible and effective control of pests. Use of conventional pest control products alone may not guarantee the safety and quality of farm produce.

For maximum effectiveness in managing pests and diseases, we advocate for the adoption of IPM. This approach encourages farmers to integrate alternative pest control methods—be they cultural, biological, or mechanical. By embracing IPM, we move closer to a future where farming is not only productive, but also safe and environmentally responsible.

Today the Subject Matter Specialist training on responsible use in Murang’a County enters its second day.

In partnership with PCPB and Murang'a county, we are undertaking a 5-day training educating agricultural and livestock extension officers in the county
on the importance of adopting Integrated Pest Management; the various classification of pesticides; the safe purchase, transport and storage of pest control products; accurate mixing and calibration of the products as stated on the label.

In the quest for food security and food safety in our country, innovation remains the beacon that will guide us to a more sustainable future in farming.

The adoption of Spray Service Providers; drone usage in spray application hence precision agriculture and the use of ISO certified PPE. These are among the many innovations we are championing for, that we believe will safeguard the well-being of our farmers, increase productivity, and lay the foundation for good agricultural practices.

Proper disposal of empty pesticide containers guarantees not only your safety but the safety of the environment and all living things within it. This is why we continue to educate farmers on the necessary steps to follow during disposal; puncture; flatten; take them to the nearest empty pesticide collection centre.

A healthy and safe environment guarantees our survival; therefore, its protection and conservation require all of us to be mindful of how we dispose of our waste. This will ensure good health and safety for all.

Today, key stakeholders in the pest control industry including regulators, researchers and manufacturers convened at the Pest Control Products Board headquarters for a workshop on piloting the Biological Crop Protect Access (BioCOPPA) index in Kenya.

The BioCOPPA Index tool aims to help countries quantify the systemic readiness of biopesticide and biocontrol adoption. Further, the tool seeks to boost the advancement of sustainable agriculture by creating an enabling environment for the integration and adoption of Biological Crop Protection Products (BCPPs).

Progress of implementation of the BioCOPPA index in Kenya will be steered by Pest Control Products Board, International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (ICGEB), Croplife Africa&Middle East, Aak-GROW/CropLife Kenya , and IBMA Kenya
