Safety starts with leadership.

At Bannerman, safety isn't something discussed from behind a desk. Our management teams get involved through regular site walkabouts, team debriefs, daily briefings, mock drills and weekly HSE&R meetings.

We also bring contractors into the conversation through rotational Toolbox Talks, using practical demonstrations and interactive activities to make safety relevant to the work being done.

We recently hosted HSE professionals through the Chamber of Mines Safety Committee Peer Review, creating an opportunity to benchmark our practices, share learnings and keep improving.

Because leading by example means being present, listening and continuously looking for better ways to work safely.

On Friday proudly celebrated the official launch of the Etango Mine in Namibia's Erongo Region, marking a significant milestone in our journey towards becoming the world's next uranium mine.

We were honoured to be joined by the Honourable Modestus Amutse, Minister of Industries, Mines and Energy, Isabella Kandjii-Chirchir, Mining Commissioner, alongside government representatives, our project partners, stakeholders, contractors and the wider Bannerman team.

The occasion provided an opportunity to reflect on the journey to date, recognise the partnerships that have made this milestone possible and look ahead to the next phase of Etango's development following a positive Final Investment Decision.

With a clear pathway to production, Etango is positioned to contribute to the global supply of uranium while delivering meaningful economic and social benefits for 🇳🇦

Bannerman Mining Resources Namibia recently welcomed a delegation from Namport to the Etango project site for a familiarisation visit.

The visit gave the team an opportunity to see the project firsthand and learn more about its development.

Local Namibian SMEs continue to play an active role in the development of the Etango Uranium Project.

On site, construction of the new Etango gatehouse is progressing, with the works being delivered by a Namibian-owned SME as part of Bannerman’s focus on creating meaningful opportunities for local businesses to participate directly in the Project.

Packages such as these support local participation in Etango’s development while providing practical opportunities for Namibian businesses to build experience and capability through project delivery.

Bannerman Mining Resources Namibia (BMRN) recently welcomed a delegation from Rössing Uranium Limited to the Etango Uranium Project, led by Jacklyn Mwenze, Manager HSE & Protection Services.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity for both teams to exchange knowledge, experiences and best practices in health, safety, environmental and radiation management.

The delegation received an overview of the Etango Project and BMRN’s current HSE strategies, followed by a site tour and further discussions with our team and EPCM contractor. The engagement also provided an opportunity to share safety learnings and discuss approaches to continuous improvement.

With 50 years of operating experience in Namibia, Rössing brings valuable industry knowledge and expertise. Together with our respective relationships with CNNC, these exchanges provide an important opportunity to strengthen collaboration and learn from one another.

Thank you to the Rössing team for a constructive and engaging visit. We look forward to continuing these discussions during a reciprocal visit later this year.

Bannerman Mining Resources Namibia's Interim CEO Danie van Aswegen and Project Technical Manager Andre Alberts recently represented Bannerman at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) International Conference on Fuel Supply Chain for Sustainable Nuclear Power Development in Vienna, Austria.

Using the Etango Project as a case study, they shared insights on reducing uncertainty in uranium project development through staged ex*****on, technical innovation and disciplined project delivery. Danie also contributed to an expert panel exploring future workforce needs across the nuclear fuel supply chain.

Reflecting on the conference, Danie said:
"The conference reinforced the important role hashtag can play in supporting a secure and sustainable global nuclear fuel supply, while also highlighting the value of collaboration, innovation and skills development as the industry grows."

Participation in international forums such as provides an important opportunity to share practical project development experience, showcase Namibian expertise and contribute to global discussions on the future of sustainable uranium supply.

Bannerman Mining Resources Namibia recently welcomed representatives from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism to the Etango site for a consultative discussion on a road closure management plan anticipated for 2027.

Deputy Director for the Central Regions within the Directorate of Wildlife, Mr Marthin Kasaona, and Chief Control Warden Manie le Roux met with Bannerman’s Liezl Maritz, Werner Ewald, Danie van Aswegen and Matjiua Hengua.

The discussion provided constructive recommendations to help guide the planning process. Bannerman will continue engaging with stakeholders who may be affected as the plan develops.

🏗️🇳🇦 Building Etango: September 2026 Project Update

Construction activities at the Etango Uranium Project continue to advance, with significant progress achieved across our early works programme.

Our September update highlights some of the key milestones reached on site:

🚧 Bulk earthworks approximately 99% complete

🏗️ More than 14,700m³ of concrete poured, representing approximately 86% of planned works

🪨 Heap leach drainage aggregate production approximately 50% complete

Behind this progress are the dedicated teams and Namibian contractors contributing to the development of Etango.

As we continue building Etango, we remain focused on creating opportunities for Namibian people and businesses and delivering lasting value for Namibia.
