One of our largest customers, Tohken Thermo Tech, is a global coating provider headquartered in Japan. With nearly 800 employees in Japan and multiple sites across Asia and Mexico, theyโve built a solid position in heat treatment and thin-film coatings.
Automotive has played a major role in that growth. Together, we supported Tohken in expanding their coating capabilities with 25 Hauzer systems, contributing to their leading position in Japan, especially in DLC coatings.
That same market is now shifting. The move toward electric vehicles reduces the number of components, which directly impacts coating demand. For Tohken, this creates urgency to rethink where and how they grow. To accelerate that shift, they established an Innovation Center. A place where they collaborate with partners early in development and explore new applications beyond automotive:
