A few more from Run 474.

There’s not much else to do on a 47.4km loop except talk, and that we did. About the tough stuff they’re carrying and the people they were running for.

Sam spoke at the beginning of the day, and it’s worth sharing some of it here:

“I used to view vulnerability as weakness, but I have learned in sharing, it gives us strength.”

“This is for everyone who didn’t have those people there to lift them, and those who struggled to let others in.”

If you’re having a tough time right now, this one was for you. And if you’re not, check in on someone this week who might be.

We’re still a bit lost for words on Saturday - Run 474.

47.4km at Lovelock Track, in the pouring rain, all in support of The Last Chance Project. People came early to tick off their own run. Some jumped in for a few laps. A few ran the entire distance alongside Sam. Plenty more stood out in the rain the whole day just to keep everyone going.

We went over and above our donation goal, and that’s down to a community that backed this from the very beginning.

To our sponsors who gave up their Saturday, stood in the rain and kept the runners and spectators fuelled - Willis Alatini , Art of Recovery, I Love Ugly, Elyte Hydration, Two Dudes and Flight Coffee - thank you. We couldn’t have done this without you.

And to Tai and the team at The Last Chance Project, thank you for the work you do every day for this community, and for letting us be a small part of it.

The highlight for us was the space this created for people to talk, share what they’re carrying, and remember those who’ve passed on.

Thank you to every single person who came out and to those who supported from afar. We’re proud to know and work alongside some very incredible people.

This weekend, we’re running 47.4 km - 100 metres for each of the 474 men, on average, who take their own lives in Aotearoa every year.

It’s a chance to honour them, and to create space to come together and check in with our people. Come run, walk or jog a lap with us, or if you’re up for it, take on the full distance.

The first 50 runners get a limited edition mental health tee from ACTIVE By I LOVE UGLY , an electrolyte pack from ELYTE , plus a few more surprises we have up our sleeve.

DJ, sauna & ice baths, and an aid station on site from 9am.

This Saturday, 9am, Lovelock Track. We hope to see you there!

Three and a half years ago, Sam started Build at 26, with a six-month old baby at home. Lululemon, Nike and Lorna Jane took us on anyway. No small thing to do for a company nobody had heard of.

Since then we’ve gone national, picked up two RED Awards, outgrew our first office, delivered 110 projects in 2025 alone, and this year, Sam’s spent more time working on the business than in it, making it more sustainable for the future.

None of that happens without the clients who said yes early, and the ones who keep calling. You backed us before there was much reason to.

Thank you. Here’s to many more 🔨

“Instead of waiting for people to reach out, we should check in. Because if we check in, then people don’t have to check out.” - Tai Tupou , co-founder of The Last Chance Project Charitable Trust .

That’s what Run 474 is about.

474 is the number of men who take their own lives in Aotearoa every year. Too many of them, as Tai says, are making a permanent solution to a temporary problem. We keep telling people who are struggling that if they reach out, they’ll get help. But most don’t.

So don’t wait for them to. Check in on your mates, your workmates, your brothers, your old man.

That’s 474 lives a year, and 47.4 kilometres to bring it home. Let’s change the number together.

Donate via the link in our bio or come and support on the day. 29 August, Lovelock Track
