Great to see the progress photos coming through from one of our projects in Wanaka.

The reinforcing steel was cut, bent and delivered to site last week, and our placing team has since been busy getting it installed into the foundations.

For us, a good reinforcing job is about more than just supplying steel. It’s about making the whole process easier for the builder:

EARLY START IN ROSLYN 🏗️

Another load of reinforcing steel delivered to Roslyn this morning, ready for the next stage of the build.

Every bar has been cut, bent, tagged and prepared to suit the job, arriving on site ready for the team to set out and tie the foundations.

There’s something satisfying about seeing a load like this leave our yard. It’s not just reinforcing steel. It’s the strength that will soon be buried inside the concrete, strengthening this home from the foundations up for generations to come.

PRE-TIED, READY TO GO 💪

Another retaining wall reinforcing cage pre-tied and ready for delivery.

At Orbit Reinforcing, we can pre-tie reinforcing steel in our yard before it reaches site. This helps the builder save valuable site time, labour and resources, while keeping the reinforcing organised and ready for installation.

For this retaining wall, the cage has been fully assembled in our yard. Once delivered, it will go straight into the prepared foundation, be positioned and checked, and then it’s ready for the concrete pour.

Less tying on site. Less disruption. Faster progress.

From cutting and bending to pre-tying and delivery, we aim to make processing of reinforcing as straightforward as possible for our build partners.

BUILDING CONNECTIONS, QUITE LITERALLY

We’re proud to be playing a part in this unique little bridge project in Port Chalmers.

This bridge will span a creek and create a connection between the properties of two brothers, which makes this project a little more special than the usual concrete and steel structure.

These reinforcing pile cages and mesh are heading out to become part of the foundations supporting that connection for many years to come.
There’s something satisfying about knowing where the steel we fabricate ends up and what it helps build. From our workshop to site, every bar has a purpose.

ANOTHER PROJECT TAKING SHAPE IN ABBOTSFORD 💪

A look at our latest ongoing project in Abbotsford, with the reinforcing steel going in and the crew making good progress on site. steel chairs to support the mesh on top is always a great approach to maintain concrete covers.

At Orbit Reinforcing, our involvement doesn’t end with supplying steel. From detailing, cutting and bending through to delivery and on-site placing, we work closely with our build partners to help keep their projects moving.

It’s always good to see our steel taking shape on site and becoming part of another solid build.

NO WONDER THESE LADS STAY AHEAD OF PROGRAM! 👏

A visit to the Ocean Heights site this morning, for our valued build partner SB 2 BUILD LTD, and it was great to see the progress being made.

Following the unexpected foundation changes, all additional Z-bars required as a variation were fabricated and delivered first thing Monday morning. Only a couple of days later, most of the reinforcing steel is already tied and in place. It’s looking fantastic.

What impressed me even more was seeing the crew hard at work despite the wet and rainy conditions. No excuses, just focused on getting through their target for the day and keeping the project moving.

When you see this kind of commitment on site, it’s easy to understand how these lads stay ahead of the scheduled programme.

CONSTRUCTION DOESN’T ALWAYS GO TO PLAN. HOW QUICKLY YOU RESPOND MATTERS.

Things can change quickly on a construction site, especially once excavation begins.

On this Ocean Heights project, the reinforcing steel was delivered on time and everything was ready to go. Then excavation uncovered an unexpected issue: soft ground requiring deeper foundations.

These things happen in construction. What matters is how quickly everyone works together to find a solution and keep the project moving.

Our builder came back to us urgently requiring 130+ additional Z-bars so the foundation issue could be addressed, inspection completed and the concrete pour kept on track.

Our team got straight onto it. The bars were fabricated on Friday afternoon and delivered to site first thing Monday morning.

Knowing that foundation changes could also affect the block wall reinforcing, we had deliberately held off fabricating vertical bars from block walls until the final wall heights were confirmed. Once the foundation concrete was completed, the builder supplied the confirmed heights.
For us, reinforcing supply isn't only about cutting, bending and delivering steel. It's about communicating, responding quickly and helping our build partners keep their projects moving when site conditions change unexpectedly.

A BIG slab poured in Mosgiel last week, laying the foundation for what will become a landmark building for the area. 🏗️

We’re proud to see Orbit Reinforcing playing our part in bringing this project to life, supplying the reinforcing steel that sits at the heart of this build.

There’s something satisfying about seeing months of planning, detailing, fabrication and coordination finally disappear beneath the concrete. The steel may no longer be visible, but its job has only just begun. 💪
