Livingstone Building NZ

Livingstone Building NZ Building Excellence from the ground up, for almost 80 years.

While work on the new sports hub at Owen Delany Park wraps up ahead of this week's opening, Taupō District Council spoke with our Project Director, Sam, and Lennox, a student from Taupo-nui-a-Tia College, to hear what it's been like being part of the build.

Lennox is one of the ten local rangatahi who've had hands-on industry experience in the Taupō region through our Gateway Programme, working alongside our site team, picking up real skills, and getting real-life insight into a career in construction.

Our Gateway Programme is more than work experience, it’s a genuine pathway into Livingstone Building and the construction industry. Across Livingstone, 16 of our current carpenters and apprentices started where Lennox is now. 🛠️

Last week marked the official opening of O-Studio Cambridge, a premium wellness centre bringing together recovery, fitness, and relaxation in the heart of Cambridge.

From sauna and pools to float therapy, yoga, Pilates, massage, and recovery spaces, it's a welcoming environment for both body and mind.

We're proud to have completed the interior fit-out of this beautiful space and can't wait to see the Cambridge community make it their own 🧘‍♂️🧘‍♀️

Congratulations to Samantha Blanken, Jai Gibbes, Brooklyn Bailey and the wider site team, plus our subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants who helped bring this project to life.

A proud milestone for Pukekura The Parade, with the project's first settlements now complete.

This achievement reflects the collaboration, commitment and professionalism of everyone involved across the client, consultant, design and construction teams.

"A special acknowledgement goes to Trevor Griffin and Craig Slattery from Livingstone, whose leadership, ownership and commitment helped keep the project moving forward through a period of change and increased delivery pressure. Their collaborative approach and willingness to tackle challenges head-on were instrumental in achieving this milestone." – Egmont Dixon

Thank you to everyone who has played a part in bringing Pukekura the Parade to life 🏡

We're proud to share the successful completion of the Design & Build for Mission Heights Primary School - six new teaching spaces delivered as part of a multi-storey development.

From concept through to detailed design, our Pre-Construction and Commercial teams worked hand-in-hand with Ministry of Education , ASC Architects and consultants - using BIM 3D modelling and staged programming to keep cost, buildability, and timeline transparent every step of the way.

The build came together in just 10 months, wrapping up three weeks ahead of schedule and within budget.

Congratulations to the team involved in bringing this space to life for the students and staff at Mission Heights Primary School. 🏫🔨

We handed the mic to our team and asked them one simple question: What's your favourite thing about working here?

Here's what they had to say. 👀

A multi-level fit-out in a live university environment.

Project Manager Sam Neha and the team have been busy at the The University of Waikato , completing demolition, seismic strengthening, and a full mechanical and electrical fit-out.

With the university remaining operational, multiple shifts have kept work moving around the clock while minimising disruption for staff and students. 👷‍♂️

Learning beyond the job site 👷‍♂️👷‍♀️

A group of our apprentices visited Modern Construction’s yard to gain firsthand insight into the steelwork behind one of our current standout projects - an impressive new private jet hangar.

Designed to accommodate aircraft such as Gulfstream G6s and Falcon 10Xs, the hangar features a massive 70m-wide by 8m-high door opening with no internal columns. With over 300 tonnes of structural steel spread across just under 3,000m², it’s a fantastic example of the precision, planning and engineering that complex construction demands.

The visit gave our apprentices a valuable opportunity to understand how the materials they work with on site are designed and fabricated.

A huge thank you to the team at Modern Construction for taking the time to share their knowledge and give our apprentices this valuable learning opportunity.

Following a fire at Taupō-nui-a-Tia College, we're delivering a temporary accommodation solution that comprises of 12 teaching spaces, including a quad classroom block and bathroom facilities using existing Ministry of Education NZ modular buildings.

A major milestone has now been achieved, with all relocatable buildings successfully transported from Auckland to Taupō, installed on their screw pile foundations, and connected. With the buildings in place, our team is now progressing external finishing works, services connections, and internal fit-out activities.

We're proud to support the school’s recovery and look forward to handing over the completed project 🏫🚧
