A busy week for the team in Coroglen! ☀️

Last week the Bridge It NZ crew were working along Tapu-Coroglen Road carrying out maintenance works on two local bridges along one of the Coromandel's key cross-peninsula routes.

With locals already having dealt with their fair share of disruption from slips and road closures over recent years, getting these works completed quickly was a key priority.

At Barakats Bridge, extensive timber rot meant the deck, running boards, posts and rails all needed replacing. With a road closure required to get the job done, the team worked hard to keep disruption to a minimum and get the road reopened as quickly as possible.

Our team also completed maintenance works on Tarahuehue Bridge, replacing loose running boards and helping extend the life of the existing structure.

A great effort from everyone involved and another reminder that our team doesn't just build new bridges, we restore and maintain existing ones too. Often, that means helping extend the life of a structure before a full replacement is needed

Before & After transformation on this dairy farm bridge in Reporoa 🐄

The old bridge had started showing movement with cows crossing it, so the client made the smart call to get on top of it sooner rather than waiting for it to become a much bigger problem down the track.

While the on-site bridge replacement itself usually only takes around two weeks, the full process from design and consenting through to construction can take 4–5 months. Planning ahead meant the work could be scheduled during a quieter period before the bridge became unusable.

Now replaced with a stronger, low-maintenance crossing built to handle daily farm life properly.

Safe to say this crossing has come a long way.

Delivered for a forestry client off State Highway 2, this new 18m steel beam concrete deck bridge was designed to handle heavy loads, tough conditions, and the realities of long-term back-country forestry access.

Low maintenance, built to last for multiple rotations to come, and a major upgrade from the old timber bridge that was there before.

Connecting the Papamoa community.

This boardwalk bridge upgrade replaces an old structure that had well and truly done its time, completed for Tauranga City Council.

It’s a well-used reserve, with dog walkers, bikes, and families using it every day, so the goal was simple: make it safer, more durable, and built to handle how the space is actually used.
