Have you thought about your shower shelves?

Corner shelves, a built-in niche, a small shaving ledge or even lighting?
Little details that can make your shower work so much better for you.

If you’re considering a niche or shaving ledge, talk to your builder early. These need to be planned ahead so the framing, electrical, plumbing and tile layout all work together.

A little planning early on can make a big difference to how your finished bathroom looks and functions.

Deck refurb underway… we found a little more than we bargained for 👀

A bit of rot, then a bit more rot… then timber that basically wasn’t timber anymore!

Out with the bad, in with the good. New joists are in, everything’s solid again and we’re moving forward - the Kirkby Way 🔨

Lounge Living Extension

Last year we shared this home’s bathroom renovation, now it’s time to show you the lounge extension.

To create a larger, more functional living space, we extended the footprint of the lounge by removing the old front entry projection and opening the room right up.

This wasn’t just a cosmetic renovation. It required significant structural work, including new foundations and bearers, along with substantial PFC steel beams to support the roof once the existing exterior wall was removed.

Inside, we opened part of the kitchen wall to create a seamless open-plan layout, installed beautiful new timber joinery, laid new timber flooring, and completed the space with custom wall detailing and a built-in window seat.

Outside, we carefully tied the extension into the existing home with matching timber weatherboards, preserving the classic villa character while giving the owners a brighter, more spacious home to enjoy.

Part 2 Garage Renovation

The finishing stages are now complete.

The access ramp has been built, all of the plywood wall linings are up, Laurenson Electrical have completed the electrical work, and the new floor has been polyurethane-coated for a clean, durable finish.

A big transformation from the bare garage we started with, now it’s a warm, practical and fully finished space.

The building work might be finished, but judging by that final clip, Kaleb could still use a few dance lessons 💃🏻

Feedback like this really means a lot!

We loved working alongside these clients and being part of their renovation journey.

Thanks for the trust and for such kind words about the experience.

Part 1 Garage Renovation

We started with a bare garage and an uneven concrete floor, so the first job was setting out and scribing the new floor framing to suit the existing slab. Each section was cut to match the concrete below, giving us a level platform for the new floor.

From there, we formed concrete nibs to lift the new joinery 100mm above ground level (incorrectly descibed as a ramp), cut out the existing brickwork, and installed two new windows and a ranch slider.

With the new walls and ceiling framed and insulated, Kaleb and Ash moved on to fixing the plywood wall linings.

And yes… even TALL builders need step stools too 😉

Part 2 coming soon!
