Techiron Resources Inc. (TRI) joined other mining companies operating on Homonhon Island to present proposed community development programs under the Calendar Year 2027 Annual Social Development and Management Program (ASDMP) to the Local Government of Guiuan.

Held on October 19–20, 2026, at the SB Session Hall, Municipal Building, Guiuan, Eastern Samar, the activity provided an opportunity to discuss the proposed initiatives with Honorable Mayor Annaliza G. Kwan, Hon. Councilor Kinna G. Kwan, LGU department heads, and Ms. Josephine Momongan of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region VIII.

🌱 Community voices at the heart of planning
Community Relations representatives presented the proposed programs, projects, and activities developed during the Consultative Planning Workshop held on October 12–16, 2026, on Homonhon Island. They reflected the priorities identified through consultations with stakeholders from host and neighboring communities.

The presentation opened discussions on aligning these priorities with Guiuan’s development plans, with guidance from the LGU and MGB Region VIII to support the preparation of responsive and coordinated programs for 2027.

📊 Sharing progress to guide the year ahead
TRI also presented its CY 2026 ASDMP accomplishment report, covering the first quarter through the reporting date. Alongside updates from other participating companies, the report provided a basis for reviewing implementation progress and informing the coming year’s initiatives.

TRI extends its sincere gratitude to the Local Government of Guiuan for its assistance and support and to MGB Region VIII for its continued guidance.

Through meaningful consultation and strong partnerships, we continue working toward sustainable programs that respond to community needs and create lasting benefits for the people of Homonhon Island.

🤝 Meaningful community development begins with thoughtful planning and community participation.

From October 12 to 16, 2026, Techiron Resources Inc., together with other mining companies operating on Homonhon Island, conducted a Consultative Planning Workshop for the Annual Social Development and Management Program (ASDMP) for Calendar Year 2027.

Participating companies met with barangay officials and representatives of community organizations in their respective host and neighboring barangays to discuss their development needs and priorities.

For Techiron, the consultations covered:

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Regional Office VIII will further review and approve the identified PPAs.

🏥 𝐁𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞, 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

For residents of Homonhon Island, access to local healthcare matters—especially when seeking medical attention elsewhere means traveling beyond the island.

To support this essential need, Techiron Resources Inc. (TRI), through its Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), is improving the Outpatient Department (OPD) at Homonhon Island Community Hospital.

With an allocated fund of ₱1,716,818.00 for Calendar Year 2026, the project began on September 21, 2026, with an expected implementation period of 119 calendar days.

🌱 Supporting patients and the people who care for them
The OPD serves residents seeking medical consultations, follow-up checkups, and other services that do not require hospital admission. The improvement aims to provide a more functional and comfortable environment for patients and their families while supporting hospital personnel in delivering essential outpatient care.

This initiative contributes to the aspirations of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly:

Reliable infrastructure helps communities reach essential services, sustain livelihoods, and carry out daily activities.

In support of these needs, Techiron Resources Inc. (TRI) is implementing the Cansumagpang Bridge Project in Barangay Casuguran, Homonhon Island, through its Annual Social Development and Management Program (ASDMP).

With an allocated budget of ₱700,000.00, the project is a carryover from the CY 2025 ASDMP being implemented in CY 2026. Construction began on September 2, 2026, with a planned implementation period of 46 calendar days.

🤝 Connecting people to services and opportunities

The bridge aims to make travel safer and more convenient for residents going to school, work, healthcare facilities, and other community destinations. It also seeks to ease the transport of goods, supplies, and livelihood products, supporting local economic activity.

By implementing this carryover project, TRI advances its commitment to addressing local infrastructure needs and delivering lasting benefits to residents of Barangay Casuguran.

The conference highlighted forestry professionals' responsibility to protect forest ecosystems while supporting sustainable development. Key discussions focused on:

🌱 Advancing national wood security by protecting natural forests and developing sustainably managed tree plantations to support the country’s wood supply.
🌱 Building stronger local partnerships with local government units and communities for forest rehabilitation, resource protection, and sustainable forest management.
🌱 Upholding professional accountability through clear responsibilities in the signing and sealing of forestry technical documents.
🌱 Integrating biodiversity assessment into forest management to identify species, assess habitat conditions, and guide conservation and restoration efforts.

Together, these discussions reinforced the importance of forests in protecting soil and water resources, supporting wildlife, sustaining livelihoods, and helping safeguard communities from environmental threats.

It has become a cherished tradition for mining companies operating on Homonhon and Manicani Islands to unite with the people of mainland Guiuan in celebrating the annual town fiesta.
Continuing this tradition in 2026, Techiron Resources Inc. once again joined the Civic-Military Parade during the Vesper Day celebration of the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary in Guiuan, Eastern Samar.

This year’s delegation was made even more meaningful by the participation of nearly 100 proud Techiron scholars, who marched alongside the company’s employees and Emergency Response Team (ERT). Together, they celebrated with fellow Guiuananons, represented Techiron’s growing scholarship community, and promoted youth involvement, community pride, and appreciation for Guiuan’s cherished traditions. Meanwhile, the company’s emergency responders—annual parade participants—demonstrated Techiron’s continued commitment to emergency preparedness, public safety, and community service. 🎓🚑

To make this year’s participation even more colorful and festive, Techiron also presented its own parade float and invited the Kuruta Tribe—a well-known live music and percussion group from Borongan City, Eastern Samar—to add rhythm, energy, and excitement to the celebration. 🥁🎶

Techiron also distributed souvenirs to spectators along the parade route. These simple tokens created joyful moments and gave the company an opportunity to connect directly with residents and visitors. 🎁

Through the collective participation of its scholars, employees, emergency responders, and performers, Techiron celebrated not only the town’s fiesta but also the spirit of unity, service, and community that brings the people of Guiuan together.

In celebration of the Guiuan Sto. Rosario Fiesta, Techiron Resources Inc. proudly joined fellow mining companies as a sponsor of “Kalingawan: A Night of Fun and Laughter.” Organized by the Homonhon ComRel Association (HCA), the event was held on September 30, 2026, at the Guiuan Town Plaza.

For the second year, mining companies operating on Homonhon Island were given the opportunity to gather in mainland Guiuan and conduct a large-scale Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activity. Through an interactive question-and-answer session, the event shared valuable information about mining with the wider community in a fun, engaging, and festive setting. ⛏️💡

Hundreds of Guiuananons and visitors from neighboring municipalities enjoyed an evening filled with musical performances, comedy, and variety acts presented by talented entertainers from across Eastern Visayas.

Adding to the excitement were raffle draws featuring a whole lechon, a paluto package, grocery packages, electric fans, rice cookers, gas stoves, and cash prizes. These brought moments of anticipation, participation, and cheer throughout the evening. 🎁

Techiron’s participation reflects its continuing commitment to open communication and meaningful community engagement. Supporting local traditions and celebrations creates opportunities to share knowledge, build connections, and strengthen partnerships with the people of Guiuan.

What should community progress look like over the next five years?
For Techiron Resources Inc., the answer starts with listening to the people whose lives the plan will directly affect.

From September 22 to 25, 2026, Techiron brought together barangay officials, sectoral representatives, livelihood organizations, and other stakeholders for consultative planning workshops in its host and neighboring communities on 𝗛𝗼𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗵𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝘀𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗱, 𝗚𝘂𝗶𝘂𝗮𝗻, 𝗘𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝗺𝗮𝗿—Barangays Cagusu-an, Casuguran, Pagbabangnan, Canawayon, and Culasi.

The workshops were an important part of preparations for the third phase of Techiron’s Five-Year Social Development and Management Program (SDMP), covering Calendar Years 2027–2031.

Participants shared their communities’ needs, priorities, and aspirations and identified possible programs, projects, and activities in the following areas:

🔹 Education and human resource development
🔹 Health and wellness
🔹 Livelihood opportunities
🔹 Institutional capacity-building
🔹 Community infrastructure
🔹 Socio-cultural development

The discussions also considered each initiative’s intended beneficiaries, required resources, implementation schedule, and long-term sustainability. Lessons from previous projects were reviewed to identify areas requiring continued support or improvement.

The proposed programs, projects, and activities will undergo further review and evaluation by the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. VIII before approval.

Guided by Republic Act No. 7942, or the Philippine Mining Act of 1995, its implementing rules under DENR Administrative Order No. 2010-21, and DENR Administrative Order No. 2025-10, Techiron’s third Five-Year SDMP promotes collaboration with host and neighboring communities while integrating the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. 🌏
