𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: The Manila Observatory participated in the 5th International Vietnam Conference on Earth and Environmental Sciences (IVCEES) from 24-28 November 2025 in the City of Quy Nhon. Representatives from the Regional Climate Systems, Geomatics for Environment and Development, and Klima Center jointly collaborated to organize the Asia Climate Risk and Strategic Workshop and to present their research at the event.

Despite hiccups along the way (😅), the Klima Center of the Manila Observatory is finally at in Belém, Brazil. 🇧🇷 The team is following multiple work streams, especially focusing on Loss and Damage, Just Transition, and the Global Stocktake. 💙💛🧡 The Observatory also co-organized multiple side events lined up for the second week of so stay tuned for more updates on this. 📝

Climate literacy is critical to address the impacts of climate change. With this, Manila Observatory, in partnership with WCRP Academy, is hosting a side event at entitled, “Resilience through Literacy: Strengthening Climate Science Education in ASEAN”. Catch it on 14 November 2025, 3:30-4:30 PM at the ASEAN Pavilion.

𝗟𝗢𝗢𝗞: On 5 November 2025, the Klima Center of the Manila Observatory in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme - UNDP || UNDP Philippines, officially launched the project, 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻’𝘀 𝗖𝗶𝘃𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗪𝗼𝗺𝗲𝗻 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝘂𝗺𝗮𝗻 𝗥𝗶𝗴𝗵𝘁𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗮 𝗝𝘂𝘀𝘁, 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗲𝗻, 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗶𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀. This project intends to engage with and empower women civil society organizations (CSOs), as well as utilize UNDP’s eMonitor+ platform to collect and analyze harmful social media content targeting women environmental human rights defenders (WEHRDs).

This was attended by women environmental human rights defenders (WEHRDs) from CSO partners as well as government agency partners. The launch consisted of an inception workshop and a consultation meeting.

At the inception, UNDP presented an overview of the project, partners introduced their organizations, and partners gave their comments on the tentative project outputs. Meanwhile, the consultation meeting headed by Klima of the Manila Observatory focused on a rapid assessment indicating capacities and needs of each partner organization, and a review of the draft policy brief for WEHRD in the Philippines.
