Over the last two years, the ALAM Project has been engaging ASEAN governments and civil society organisations to strengthen learning and collaboration for climate action in the region. At COP31, we will be convening several side events which aim to feature discussions around important themes including climate finance, just transition, Nature-based Solutions (NbS), and gender equality, disability, and social inclusion (GEDSI) among multi-stakeholder groups.

Selama dua tahun terakhir, ALAM Project telah menjalin kerja sama dengan pemerintah negara-negara ASEAN serta berbagai organisasi masyarakat sipil untuk memperkuat pembelajaran dan kolaborasi dalam aksi iklim di kawasan ini. During the visit on October 7, 2026, partners of the UK Mission to ASEAN discussed work being done in the region, such as through the support of the ASEAN-UK Green Transition Fund, and explored opportunities for continued collaboration in the coming years.

ALAM Project representatives shared updates on ongoing initiatives, including progress on the development of a regional climate finance concept note on haze-free sustainable land management and insights gained from exploring opportunities for a regional accredited entity under the Green Climate Fund for ASEAN.

🇵🇭 ⏩ PHILIPPINE CSOs READY FOR COP31!

Aksyon Klima Pilipinas, with support from the Manila Observatory - KLIMA Center, conducted the COP31 CSO Coordination Meeting, its annual space for building the capacities and enhancing coordination of potential Philippine civil society delegates in preparation for the 2026 UN climate negotiations (COP31) in Antalya, Turkiye.

This event gathered over 40 potential delegates to learn from the country's leading CSO experts across different workstreams, who provided insights on the priority issues and positions for the sector to champion leading to and during COP31.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐀𝐑𝐄 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐒𝐄𝐀 𝐌𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲

On July 30, participants of the CARE for SEA Megacities Workshop visited Marikina City for a courtesy call with Mayor Marjorie Ann "Maan" Teodoro and a tour of the city. During the visit, the goals and objectives of the CARE for SEA Megacities Workshop were presented, after which Mayor Teodoro shared Marikina City's environmental and climate resilience initiatives. The visit also provided an opportunity to discuss local climate action and urban resilience efforts. 🌱

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: Final Workshop of CARE for SEA Megacities held in Manila 🌏🏙️

From July 28-30, 2026, the final workshop of the “Climatic hazard Assessment to enhance Resilience against climate Extremes for Southeast Asian megacities (CARE for SEA megacities)” was held in Manila. The project is the latest activity under the Coordinated Regional Climate Downscaling Experiment Southeast Asia (CORDEX-SEA) collaboration.

With support from the Asia-Pacific Network for Global Change Research (APN) and organized by the Manila Observatory, the workshop brought together CARE for SEA megacities collaborators and the CORDEX-SEA community to present the latest research findings and provided a venue for the launch of the online data communication platform, including a demonstration of its use.

Participants also took part in interactive activities on creating climate stories and designing climate-resilient cities, organized in collaboration with My Climate Risk (MCR)-Ateneo and the WCRP Academy.
