Every innovation begins with a story.

Today, we will hear from Adana Joseph Nikki, Founder and President of ARI's, of the Shaping the Future of Innovation project, who will highlight the power of learning, collaboration, and opportunity. Their journeys remind us that innovation is not just about technology, but about people with bold ideas and the courage to pursue them.

Watch. Listen. Be inspired.

The Shaping the Future of Innovation Project is a partnership between the Government of Trinidad and Tobago through the Ministry of Planning, Economic Affairs and Development, the European Union in Trinidad and Tobago and IDB Lab, in collaboration with CARIRI - The Caribbean Industrial Research Institute as the project implementing partner. The project is financed by the European Union and the IDB LAB.

Today, our Innovation Nation team had the pleasure of visiting the Seereeram Vedic Memorial Primary School, where students explored the exciting possibilities of Artificial Intelligence, Coding, and Robotics. 💻🤖✨

Through our DeepSeek AI and Vibe Coding session, students learned how AI can be used as a creative tool to generate ideas, support problem-solving, and bring innovative projects to life. They also gained hands-on experience with coding concepts while creating interactive game ideas and digital solutions.

The excitement continued with an Introduction to Robotics and Sensors session using Sphero Indi robots. Students explored how robots use sensors to interact with their environment and discovered how coding and automation can be applied to solve real-world challenges.

Throughout the session, students:
🎮 Designed and customized interactive game concepts
💡 Explored coding principles such as logic, prompts, and conditions
🤖 Learned the basics of robotics and sensor technology
🔍 Investigated how robots detect and respond to their surroundings
👥 Worked together to develop creative and innovative solutions

It was inspiring to see so many bright young minds embracing technology and innovation with enthusiasm and curiosity.

We also introduced students to the Innovation Nation Programme, encouraging them to continue their learning journey through our free, virtual, self-paced platform.

A special thank you to the principal, teachers, and staff of the Seereeram Vedic Memorial Primary School for welcoming us and supporting the next generation of innovators.

Building on Solar Knowledge for Smarter Farming ☀️🌱

Today, participants returned for Session 2 of the Off-Grid Solar Systems & Applications in Agriculture training programme, a collaborative initiative between CARIRI, Paria Fuel Trading Company Limited and the SURE Foundation TT.

Farmers from San Fernando, Claxton Bay, Marabella, Gasparillo, Point-a-Pierre, and Macaulay continued their exploration of off-grid solar technology, gaining a deeper understanding of system sizing, energy requirements, and practical considerations for implementing solar-powered solutions on their farms.

The session encouraged participants to think strategically about how renewable energy can be integrated into agricultural operations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and support long-term sustainability.

As we move toward the final session, participants are becoming better equipped to evaluate and adopt clean energy technologies that can strengthen their farming enterprises.
