Kaizen in Action

Our Kaizen Philosophy (Continuous improvement) often comes from simplifying complex processes. This flexible hand enables the same end effector to work across multiple door models, reducing tooling variation and creating a more standardized, efficient operation. This end of arm tooling adjusts to the new panel using vacuum cups up/down to meet the new model without having to replace the unit during model change.

Improving Quality and Throughput with Automation
This automated tape dispensing cell moved a repetitive offline process directly into the production line.

Previously, tape was applied manually at offline stations by four operators, which created variation in tape location, amount, and application pressure. Automating the process inline improves quality, increases consistency, and provides a clear return on investment.

The cell uses two identical tape dispensing heads with ATI Industrial Automation tool changers, allowing one head to run while the other is prepared for the next spool changeout. This helps bury refill time and keep production moving.

Instead of using a separate drive unit for this non-value added fixture, watch our FANUC America Corporation robot take over the rotation of the turntable, eliminating the need for a separate drive system. This simple improvement increased robot utilization while reducing equipment complexity and supporting our lean manufacturing principles.
