The 1st thing to decide: What is the priority? More floor space or more storage?

If the priority is floor space:
-Install shallow depth or floating vanities
-Choose a smaller toilet. A floating or back to wall toilet will also give you a few extra inches of floor space
-Remove the tub and use a glass panel shower door. You can also create a curbless shower to free up those extra inches of shower framing while creating a seamless look (**we suggest this if there’s already another tub in the house)
-Installing wall mounted faucets can also save you a couple inches and allow the vanity to be closer to the wall

If storage is the primary issue:
-Installing a recessed medicine cabinet can provide hidden storage and we would even opt for a secondary recessed storage space behind a picture or hanging art
-Look up! Think vertical storage options. What space is being wasted above your head? Use floating shelves, a cabinet above the toilet or even a shelf above your door for towels or bins…which brings us to the next tip
-Baskets and bins are your friend. Clutter makes even a large bathroom feel small.
-Stay away from vanities that have small doors and open shelves or wasted space. Instead, opt for a full vanity that has storage all the way to the floor. We prefer vanities both with drawers and doors. Invest in containers to organize things inside of your vanity.

A few extra tips:
-Flip the bathroom door to swing outward or use a pocket door. This will free up valuable floor space that may have been needed for door clearance.-Create a recessed shower niche or ledge along the shower wall for toiletries
-Use a pony wall next for your shower. You can hide an additional niche inside the pony wall and push the vanity against the outer wall - freeing those few inches that are usually wasted for clearance.
-Consider creating storage just outside of the bathroom. Putting a linen closet or cabinet just outside of the bathroom can free up valuable floor space needed inside. This can store your “extras” - towels, toilet paper, hair dying products, bathroom cleaners, etc.
