Who calls themselves working class? According to Pew, 60% of Americans do, including half of college graduates and half of upper-income Americans. Republicans are more likely to embrace the label: 67% vs. 55% of Democrats. Even among upper-income Americans, it’s 61% of Republicans vs. 38% of Democrats. The shift toward a “working-class” GOP isn’t just electoral, it’s increasingly about self-identity.
