Building skills. Sharing ideas. And a little friendly competition. 🏗️

Twenty early-career project engineers from across Ames recently came together in Minnesota for hands-on learning focused on planning, coordination, and project operations. The Tallest Tower exercise gave teams a chance to put their communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills to the test.

“It was great to connect with other project engineers, share experiences, and learn from different perspectives,” says Project Engineer Aiden Farley. “The workshop also reinforced many of the fundamental skills and principles that help make us successful in our roles.”

Ames crews are working on the second phase of the 395 North Valleys Project in Reno, Nevada, adding lanes and improving traffic flow along a busy highway.

When field conditions did not match the design, the team used drone mapping and 3D construction data to quickly identify solutions and keep work moving.

This approach is helping maintain project momentum while supporting safer, more efficient travel throughout the region.

Nearly 40 years after helping build Denver International Airport, we’re once again shaping the future of the region.

In partnership with the Aerotropolis Regional Transit Authority (ARTA), Ames is delivering the Aerotropolis Parkway Interchange project, the first phase of a new 5-mile parkway that will connect Interstate 70 to Peña Boulevard.

The project will improve access to the airport, support future economic growth, and create a vital connection in one of Colorado's fastest-developing areas. Backed by strong partnerships and a team that embodies Ames' Fueled by Family culture, this work will support communities, businesses, and travelers for generations to come.

The first trains have crossed the new Missouri River rail bridge near Bismarck. N.D., a major milestone in a project that will help strengthen freight capacity, improve efficiency, and support economic growth throughout the region.

But the work continues. Last week, Ames crews lifted and supported the existing 140-year-old bridge in preparation for its removal. Crews are now dismantling the first span of the structure. Together, the bridge's three truss spans are estimated to weigh nearly 9 million pounds of steel.

Congratulations to everyone who helped make this milestone happen. We’re proud of the team making it all possible.

October is Employee Ownership Month.

Ames was built for the long haul. Becoming employee-owned was another step in ensuring the company remains strong and positioned to create opportunities for generations to come.

Every day, people across Ames contribute to that future through the work we do, the relationships we build, and the way we take care of one another.

What we build matters. So does what we leave behind.
