Today we recognize and celebrate the retirement of 𝗟𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗻, 𝗣.𝗘., following more than 30 years of distinguished service in civil and water resources engineering.

Since joining Gavel & Dorn Engineering in 2022, Lance has shared his exceptional technical knowledge, leadership, and professionalism with our team and our clients. Throughout his career, he has helped deliver stormwater, water, and wastewater infrastructure projects that have strengthened communities across the Southeast.

For several of us, working with Lance at G&D was a reunion, having first worked together years earlier in our careers. It has been a privilege to have him as both a colleague and friend.

Thank you, Lance, for your dedication, mentorship, and the positive impact you've made on everyone around you. We wish you a retirement filled with new adventures, lasting memories, and plenty of time to enjoy the things you love.

Kirk Gavel, with Gavel & Dorn, shared his story of APWA. “Years and years ago (early 90’s), I got a scholarship from APWA when I was taking engineering classes and UNC - Charlotte”. And here he is years and years later. Kirk’s team has always been a big supporter of APWA. Wonderful to see the fruits of our labor and the fruits of theirs brought together at our conference years later.
