This , we’re honored to highlight Susan Tolan and Rebecca Calderon of Gavel & Dorn Engineering in celebration of DiscoverE’s Girl Day 💙✨

Susan shares, “Being an engineer has never felt like a ‘job’ to me. By nature, I am creative, inquisitive and a problem solver… being a problem solver offers the possibility to improve someone else's day to day life experiences.” Her advice to the next generation: “Look forward to the unique challenges you will encounter. Use the uncomfortable experiences to grow your confidence.”

Rebecca highlights the excitement of the profession: “The fun of engineering is no 2 days are the same… Every project throws something new at me and offers a chance to grow.” She encourages girls to step into opportunity: “Take a chance on new experiences. You never know what you're going to love doing and how it will push you to grow.”
