Idaho Forest Group

Idaho Forest Group One of America's largest lumber producers, Idaho Forest Group grows, harvests, manufactures and distributes the incredible product that is wood.

Idaho Forest Group’s success has grown from humble beginnings. In 1934, Guy Bennett began his lumber career in the charcoal briquette division of Potlatch Mill. With his sons Dick and Frank, and daughter Janice, he built a significant presence. Dick would leave to form Bennett Forest Industries. The Brinkmeyer family has a farming and timber heritage of their own, beginning in the Old World and cu

lminating in Riley Creek Lumber. In 2008, these two industry powerhouses merged to become Idaho Forest Group. The company continues to expand in facilities and market share, and is now one of America’s top producers of wood products.

Today, forests are facing longer fire seasons, invasive species, extreme weather, and changing conditions on the ground.

This makes sustainable forest management essential. By combining science, data, planning, and hands-on stewardship, we are supporting healthier trees, cleaner water, abundant wildlife habitat, and forests that are better prepared for tomorrow’s challenges.

Forest resilience isn’t something we simply hope for. It’s something we grow, manage, and plan for.

In Idaho, many races are effectively decided in the primary, yet voter turnout is often below 𝟯𝟬%. That means a small percentage of voters are shaping decisions that impact our businesses, workforce, and community. With important races on the ballot, every vote truly counts.

For over 44 years, Idaho Forest Group has worked hard to advocate for our industry, people, and communities. We support leaders across the political landscape who align with our core values and support policies that:

• Enable Active Forest Management
• Streamline Regulation
• Strengthen Rural Economies
• Develop a Skilled Workforce
• Expand Effective Public-Private Partnerships

IFG also spoke about the importance of forest stewardship and how Idaho’s endowment lands help support sustainable forestry, healthy forests, rural communities, and Idaho’s schools and public institutions.

We’re proud to stand alongside leaders who recognize the vital role working forests play in Idaho’s future. 🌲

From early mornings in the barn to the show ring, 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA) students build real-world skills by running their own projects and learning what it means to follow through.

This year, IFG was proud to support six youth participants through add-on contributions and the purchase of 13 animals at the Junior Livestock Show and Auction that took place in Spokane last week. “It’s one way we give back. These purchases go right back into the kids’ businesses and futures. I love 4-H and FFA and am proud to work for a company that supports all that the programs do for our kids,” said IFG HR Manager, Holli Balmer, an avid supporter of 4-H and FFA programs. “It all starts here and the impact lasts a lifetime.“
