Applications are open for OroraTech’s 2026 International Wildfire Conference! 🚀

Last year, the wildfire community came together.

The conversations, the connections, the ideas, and the energy of the OroraTech International Wildfire Conference showed what happens when the right people gather around one shared challenge.

Now, we’re getting ready for what comes next!

📆 On October 12–13, we’ll meet in Miesbach, near Munich, surrounded by the Bavarian mountains, for an exclusive retreat dedicated to the future of wildfire intelligence.

This year, we’ll build on our core focus on wildfire management while opening the conversation to Earth observation, thermal monitoring use cases, emergency response, and resilience, with interactive sessions, new perspectives, and a few surprises along the way.

As always, the conference is a private, application-based event with limited attendance.

First light was just the beginning.

After sharing the first images from our collaboration, we’re taking a closer look at what they already prove for wildfire detection.

The scene shows Lake Francis Case, behind the Fort Randall Dam on the Missouri River, on the border of South Dakota and Nebraska. In the MWIR image, our sensor detected a small fire that other LEO satellites missed, demonstrating how thermal data from space can reveal events that are otherwise easy to overlook.

What makes this first image exceptional?
✅ There were plenty of LEO satellites in the fire’s timeframe. None of them detected it.
✅ We captured the fire during the afternoon gap! It started at around 17:00 local time.
✅ The fire was small and only lasted a short time, yet our sensors captured it anyway.

As our co-founder and CEO Mina Mitry discussed with in Colorado Springs, live thermal detection and rapid communications infrastructure should work together to make Earth observation a truly strategic capability.

This is not just about achieving first light. It is about proving the value of the infrastructure we are building.

We achieved first light from 🛰

The four thermal sensors we integrated into satellites are scanning the earth, giving you a first glimpse of what a global could look like!

🌎 This is the first step toward a live thermal stream of Earth: a capability designed to support earlier fire detection, more persistent monitoring, faster situational awareness, and timely responses when every minute matters.

Detecting fires before other satellites 🔥

OroraTech Phase-1 (OTC-P1), the world’s first dedicated wildfire constellation, is operational and delivering measurable value to users.

🛰 Only in the last 30 days OTC-P1 detected 10% of fires earlier than other satellites and contributed 40% of data by adding details to existing fires and discovering new ones.
A recent case in Laveno Mombello, Italy, shows exactly why this matters. In early April, a wildfire burned around two hectares of forest above the town on Lake Maggiore.

⏰ Our constellation detected the active fire before any other satellite, nearly 15 minutes before MODIS!

In wildfire response, minutes matter. OTC-P1 gives users a faster path from insight to action.

The Hellenic Fire System (HFS) has launched, and we have already established contact with the satellites!

We were honored to mark this milestone at our Athens headquarters with the visit of Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, alongside Greece’s Minister of Digital Governance, .

🛰️ With this mission, Greece becomes the first country in the world with a national, satellite-based wildfire system. No other country currently has a national and operational wildfire satellite constellation in place.

This is a powerful example of what sovereign space infrastructure can look like in practice: a dedicated national capability for live thermal monitoring of the Earth, built for fast, operational decision-making.

🥇 At OroraTech, we have built the first commercial thermal-infrared satellite fleet that is operational and running missions. HFS shows how countries can move from relying on fragmented external data sources to owning proprietary, mission-ready intelligence through a focused civil investment that delivers direct returns in resilience, autonomy, and speed.

We are proud to support Greece on this journey and grateful for the recognition of leaders and partners who see the strategic value of thermal monitoring: the Hellenic Space Center, the Hellenic Ministry of Digital Governance, and .

The future of Europe’s resilience will be built with data that is live, proprietary, and actionable. HFS is one step toward that future.

The Hellenic Fire System is in orbit 🚀

We successfully launched the satellites which made Greece the first country in the world with a national wildfire monitoring system!

The system includes four satellites equipped with thermal infrared cameras, a ground station in Greece, and OroraTech’s Wildfire Solution platform, integrated into the country’s emergency services programs.

Developed for Greek Civil Protection, it will provide thermal data across 100% of Greek territory, helping teams detect threats earlier, coordinate response faster, and strengthen analysis after each event.

Beyond this launch, HFS lays the foundation for more effective monitoring capabilities in Greece and across the Mediterranean.

We are proud to contribute to this important mission together with our partners Hellenic Space Center, the Ministry of Digital Governance, led by Minister papastergiou and . Thank you also to our long-term launch partners, Exolaunch and , for their support.

This mission also shows how Greece can take a leading role in New Space innovation and climate technology in the region.

FIDAE is Chile’s International Air and Space Fair.

As part of our mission to support LATAM with satellite intelligence capabilities, we joined a strong group of partners and experts to show what we can achieve together!

We had the pleasure of sharing the booth alongside ARAUCO’s Fire Control Center command post, highlighting how our technology supports faster, smarter wildfire monitoring and response at a time when resilience is becoming a strategic priority across South America.

It was also a pleasure to reconnect with Zisoula Ntasiou and continue strengthening our collaboration through her valuable insights and expertise.

A special thank you to Fuerza Aérea De Chile for their invitation and congratulations on the organization of this extraordinary exhibition.

We are so proud of the incredible wildfire network we are creating. More and more, it feels like one team with a shared mission.

What does it take to prepare a space mission?

A committed team. Countless hours. Relentless attention to detail.

🇬🇷 The Hellenic Fire System, Greece’s first wildfire constellation, will soon be in orbit and this milestone is only possible thanks to an extraordinary team effort.

This mission would not have been possible without our partners, ESA - European Space Agency , the Hellenic Space Center and Υπουργείο Ψηφιακής Διακυβέρνησης, whose support helped shape and drive it from the start.

And while strong partnerships are essential, missions ultimately come to life through the people building them every day.

Behind the scenes, inside our labs, a dedicated team has worked with passion, precision, and determination to build the four satellites that will provide Greece with a national wildfire monitoring system.

Stay tuned. Launch is coming this spring.
