We’re Growing Our Lab Team and looking for a hands-on Lab Team member to join us!

⚙️ Important: This is not a position where you’ll be sitting in the lab all day. The primary duties are performed on the shop production floor, working directly with our plating operations.

RISE TO THE CHALLENGE

🏈 Another day of fun and a little healthy competition with our team!

Today we hosted our annual fantasy football league draft party, and it was a great time! We enjoyed some pizza, raffled off some prizes, shared plenty of laughs, and got ready for another season of bragging rights. 😄

But I have to say… things got pretty quiet when the actual draft started. 😂 Everyone was suddenly very serious and very focused on making the right picks. Apparently, there’s nothing funny about losing your fantasy football league!

Here’s to another season of friendly competition, questionable draft decisions, and lots of fun along the way! 🏆🏈

🌟 Happy National Intern Day! 🌟

Today, we're celebrating the incredible contributions interns make to our team, and we're excited to introduce our Summer Intern, Nonoko!

Sometimes, great opportunities are all about timing. Nonoko first reached out to us last year, but unfortunately the timing wasn't right. We encouraged her to reconnect with us earlier this year—and she did exactly that. We interviewed her over Spring Break, and it didn't take long for us to know we wanted her on our team for the summer.

Nonoko will be a senior in the fall, majoring in Materials Science & Engineering at the University of Illinois Urbana–Champaign, and she has been a great addition to our team! Her curiosity, initiative, and eagerness to learn have made a lasting impression on us.

We asked her to share a little about her internship experience:
💬 What inspired you to intern at Bales?
"I wanted hands-on experience with materials engineering while managing my own projects. At Bales, I've learned about engineering, manufacturing, and Electroless Nickel plating in ways that aren't common in most internships. Working for a woman-owned company has also been especially inspiring."

💬 Favorite experience so far?
"Working with the chemistry team and seeing the plating baths in action. It was fascinating to see how small process changes impact the quality of the finished parts."

💬 What's one new skill you've learned?
"Data visualization. I've learned how to turn raw process data into clear charts and scorecards that make information easy to understand."

💬 Who has had the biggest impact on your internship?
"My supervisor, Doug. He's been a great mentor, always willing to answer questions, offer advice, and help guide my project."

💬 How has this internship shaped your career goals?
"This experience gave me a better understanding of engineering in industry and helped me feel much more confident about my career path."

💬 Most memorable moment?
"Attending SUR/FIN 2026 and seeing just how broad and exciting the surface finishing industry really is."

💬 Fun fact!
"I'm the oldest of three girls in my family!"
