Laughing because there are kids in math class somewhere in Indiana right now saying, “When am I EVER going to use this?” Meanwhile, builders are finding dead center, spacing lights evenly, checking diagonals, measuring angles, and quietly proving the Pythagorean theorem had a point. Good craftsmanship is partly skill, partly experience, and apparently… paying attention in math class. Pass this on to a student in need. 😂

You don’t want to be knee-deep in demolition before finding out how your remodeler handles the unexpected.

A remodel can look straightforward on the surface, but the real test often starts once the walls open up. Before you hire, ask how they evaluate the existing structure, what assumptions are built into the estimate, and how they handle code, structural, plumbing, or electrical issues uncovered along the way.

The right remodeler should have a plan for the parts of your project no one can see yet.

This 2020 project began with an existing home and a completely new vision.
After the original home was torn down, Dyksen & Sons Builders had the privilege of building a new home from the ground up, designed entirely around what the homeowners wanted for the property and the way they wanted to live.
Projects of this scale remind us why we take so much pride in being builders. Bringing a custom home to life requires craftsmanship at every stage, careful planning, trusted partnerships with skilled trades, and a team committed to carrying the homeowners’ vision through every detail.

It is incredibly rewarding seeing an idea become a foundation, a structure, and eventually a finished home by our own hands and expertise. We truly thank God for blessing us with this work and the people He has brought to us to work with.

We’re grateful for the trust it takes to hand us a project this considerable and proud of the craftsmanship and partnerships that make homes like this possible.

This past month, the Dyksen & Sons team had the opportunity to host a leadership training alongside She Found His Grace. We are grateful for time set aside to learn, grow, and invest in the people who make our work possible.

One message from the training has continued to stay with us:

God does not promote you to expose you. He promotes you to expand you.

Growth often brings new responsibilities, unfamiliar challenges, and opportunities to develop our character and faith.

Another thought that resonated with our team was this:

Satan did not begin with a fight. He began with doubt.

Fear often starts quietly. When we are willing to recognize it and call it out, we can begin to address it with truth, wisdom, and confidence.
