Morton Solar installed some of the very first solar energy systems in the State of Indiana and they are still out there producing clean energy today. Morton Solar & Electric paved the way for the solar industry in Indiana, Kentucky, and Southern Illinois, from installing the first solar systems and Tesla Powerwalls, to influencing state policy changes and taking on legal battles for our customers'

energy independence. As one of the first B Corps in the state, we use our business as a 'force for good'. We have expertly designed residential, commercial, and utility scale solar energy systems in our 20 years. We keep our customers running efficiently and walk the solar energy saving journey with them! As a team of engineers and IBEW electricians, you can rest assured knowing your system is designed and installed by the most educated and trained industry professionals. Net-billing ensures consumer's homes are the first to be powered by any energy generated by their solar PV system. It is after the home is powered that any excess is transferred back to the utility company, unless designed with a battery. There is currently a 30% tax credit for homeowners and businesses interested in solar, and a 30% rebate for non-profits, that expires in 2032. The price of solar is at an all-time low while utilities are at an all-time high, and traditional electricity is an investment with no return. For example, southern Indiana has more sunlight than Jacksonville, Florida for five months out of the year and the other months there is only a 5% difference. This project adds 4 Q Cell 400W solar panels, giving the home an additional 1.6 kW of solar power. It also adds 1 Tesla Powerwall 2, helping the homeowner store more of the energy their system produces and use it when they need it most.

Part 1: Here is what this proposed solar + battery system includes and why it matters.

This Elberfeld barn is being designed with an 8.3 kW solar energy system using 20 Qcells 415-watt panels. This project also includes a Tesla Powerwall 3, giving the home 13.5 kWh of battery storage for stored solar energy, nighttime use, and backup power support.

The system is projected to offset 108% of the home’s annual energy use and create $43,348 in lifetime electric bill savings.
