Today we celebrate Independence Day, and this year feels a little extra meaningful with America turning 250.

For most of us, the 4th of July is pretty simple. Family, friends, food on the grill, kids running around, fireworks after dark, and hopefully a little extra time outside with people we care about.

That’s honestly one of the things I love most about what we get to do. We’re not just building decks and porches. We’re helping create the places where those moments happen.

We’re grateful to live and work in this country, and especially grateful for the men and women who have served and protected the freedoms we get to enjoy.

Before the decking, railing, and finishes ever go on, the foundation has to be right.

For this project, our trade partner Helico installed helical pier footings to support the new deck structure. These steel piers are driven deep into the ground below frost depth, helping create a stable foundation with minimal disruption to the yard.

It’s not the flashiest part of the project, but it’s one of the most important.
